In the name of equality: Mindstar Accuracy bonuses.
Every other weapon type gets some bonus for excess accuracy. Mindstars get nothing. Potential ideas for them to receive? (with or without psiblades?)
The obvious choice would be apr, but they both already have a lot of that, and that might be stepping on daggers toes. Thoughts?

My two obvious yet bizarre suggestions:
* Mind power.
* Defense.
Thanks

Re: In the name of equality: Mindstar Accuracy bonuses.
I am not sure mindstars really need an extra boost...
Anyway, if a symmetry is required, what I would suggest is to talent them like axes (increase crit chance).
Not for a thematic reason, but for gameplay.
The reason is that it is a bonus that is very useful in the early game (where mindstar are rather weaks), but is almost useless in the late game (where mindstar are already powerful enough) especially for a mindstar user that has raised cun and can easily get 100% crit chance.

Re: In the name of equality: Mindstar Accuracy bonuses.
Mindpower could work, but it would only really be useful for mind damage type stars, or stuff with mindpower based procs I guess. How common are those?
What in the world would defense do? Counterattacks exist, I guess, but they're really rare. I don't think they really warrant it.
But yeah, I'd just copy the axe or sword or something. As it stands, mindstars are probably the most accurate weapon anyway, so I'd also like to see at least some benefit to that. Staff bonus would be fun, but obviously too strong.

I like the crit chance idea. This would be helpful to characters that focus on mental crit instead of physical crit.
Re: In the name of equality: Mindstar Accuracy bonuses.
How about converting excess accuracy into a chance to attempt a mental crosstier?

Kind of overlaps with doomed/gestures, doesn't it?
A little bit of a starters guide written by yours truly here.

Sort of, but I'm not sure anyone uses it.

Re: In the name of equality: Mindstar Accuracy bonuses.
Mental crosstier is a very powerful feature. First it puts one talent on cooldown. Then for two turns, no talent will cooldown. And every new application increases the duration. It is common for a char dealing a large amount of brainlocking mind damage (doomed or solipsist) to have foes with a brainlock of 7 or 8 turns. And, as every new application puts a new talent on cd, rapidly the foe is unable to use any talent. How about converting excess accuracy into a chance to attempt a mental crosstier?
Adding a chance to brainlock to every mindstar strike would make them insanely powerful.
Gesture is not frequently used despite this feature, as you loose all the on-hit procs of your mindstars. And these procs (slow, etc), can be extremely powerful. But an additional brainlock chance, with the normal procs, and without investing in any talent, would 1/ kill the (already small) interest of gestures and 2/ be an undeserved icing on the mindstar cake.
Re: In the name of equality: Mindstar Accuracy bonuses.
That is why I said it was a chance to attempt to crosstier. First you have roll the attempt, then the attempt has to succeed.

Re: In the name of equality: Mindstar Accuracy bonuses.
Honestly, I think the crit chance bonus like axe would be easy and have no unintended side effects. Also lessens the need to stack both physical crit and mind crit, which would be common on builds that actually use mindstars to attack.
Re: In the name of equality: Mindstar Accuracy bonuses.
"For equality's sake" to me sounds like a very bad reason to buff an already outrageously powerful weapon tree.
I like what ghostbuster is saying though. Definitely nothing that makes the end game stars more powerful.
As for the Doomed Gestures, personally I use them with Mindstars occasionally switching it on/off depending on what I'm fighting. Also in the beginning before mindstars are becoming scary.

Stronk is a potent combatant with a terrifying appearance.

Re: In the name of equality: Mindstar Accuracy bonuses.
Think of it this way: Every weapon type has a "special accuracy feature." For other weapons it's the accuracy bonuses. For Mindstars, its WIllpower -> Accuracy. Mindstar users don't really deserve to scale on accuracy IMHO, because unlike staff or sword users, they get accuracy for free with their damage stat.
Re: In the name of equality: Mindstar Accuracy bonuses.
... daggers and both ranged weapons get that too, though, since they scale with dex, and daggers in particular don't require nearly the effort or investment to acquire the mastery for.
Personally, if I were going for something tiny but there, I'd just have them reduce the chance to save against mind damage (or reduce the effect of making the save). Maybe just for the weapon, maybe for a turn or somethin'. Yes, I'm aware the former would do nothing for non-mind damage mindstars, heh. Would be okay with that, the things are already, as mentioned, pretty powerful.

Re: In the name of equality: Mindstar Accuracy bonuses.
The real purpose of accuracy bonuses is to make accuracy matter. In their absence it rapidly becomes an irrelevant mechanic on normal. And it probably becomes just as irrelevant for NPCs on madness.
