Re: New Class Idea: Starved
Very cool, all in all. I think it has an interesting blend of Mindslayer and Cursed.
One thought, though. Perhaps give it a tree to empower its telekinetic weapon?
It must be Afflicted month. That's how many different concepts already?

Does Voracity really give a TK Weapon? The Revanchist wrote:Very cool, all in all. I think it has an interesting blend of Mindslayer and Cursed.

Re: New Class Idea: Starved
Yes. Yes it does.

Re: New Class Idea: Starved
Sounds pretty interesting. How's the extra hate from the skill scale with regular cursed talents? Do you really get twice the effect?
Stronk is a potent combatant with a terrifying appearance.
Re: New Class Idea: Starved
Well, typically the effect is capped at 100+, from what I can tell, meaning that points from 100-200 don't actually add any power. Either way, the only Cursed talent tree this has is Predator, which doesn't scale based on Hate.Faeryan wrote:Sounds pretty interesting. Though Hate scaling would add an interesting choice to the whole deal, regarding the Hate-based sustains.
Re: New Class Idea: Starved
Ye, I was more thinking about possible Adventurer stuff with Hate scaling cause I've always thought about hate as %, meaning 100 is when you come home after a long day at work and manage to spill your only beer on the sofa and then your neighbor calls you that he's loaned your lawnmower and broken it by accident.
Then again I'm not even sure if you can pick add-on talent trees for adventurer, or if double the hate much changes things for adventurers cause people often pick the most OP trees for their advents.

Re: New Class Idea: Starved
Add on trees work fine for adventurers. Unless they're racials.
I think double hate would just last twice as long decaying. Or decay at double speed. The talents seem to be built on a 0 to100 Hate system.

Or if you explicitly set the not_on_random_boss flag. The Revanchist wrote:Add on trees work fine for adventurers. Unless they're racials.
By the way, I wonder if it might be simpler to just have the Starved's base hate be permanently set to zero (so that the hate drain never tapers off like it does for the current Cursed). That might be more thematic as well.
Re: New Class Idea: Starved
I wonder at the usability of Hate-based sustains, then. It'd be better to have it stop at 1, I think, or some other low number.Mewtarthio wrote:By the way, I wonder if it might be simpler to just have the Starved's base hate be permanently set to zero (so that the hate drain never tapers off like it does for the current Cursed). Re: New Class Idea: Starved
I really think you should get rid of gourmet and put something else there
Acknowledging those talents just makes it feel like I'm not playing ToME; not because of the effects, but because of the names and descriptions, and because where the hell do you get the toppings anyway?
Also, I'm thinking that you should get rid of Distortion and give them psionic/discharge(without psionic/feedback) because distortion doesn't fit with the theme of the class, and heres a big change that I think would make this class alot better
replace psi with stamina, and give them technique/bloodthirst and also either cursed/slaughter or a new tree that uses stamina and/or hate to do physical damage to your opponents
also, another talent outside of psionic/voracity would make effects that would normally increase your psi(+energy) increase your stamina instead, but not necessarily by 100% if the normal amount
you should also make new abilities that cost psi cost hate instead, or maybe figure out how to fit psi and stamina into the class by making an offensive psionic tree that has to do with eating and uses psi

I understand that the names and descriptions could be off-putting. I don't see why that would be a reason to completely remove the tree, but I'll consider better names and such.
I considered Discharge, but I'm not entirely sure. I think Distortion actually does fit the class more. It's something to think about, though, I guess.
I'm not sure if I'm comfortable with changing the class as drastically as you suggest, though. It seems like that would just turn it into some sort of Berserker/Cursed class, and remove from the flavour of it as was intended. The idea came from Dark Sustenance and Voracity, and I feel that it should stay that - something which is now sucking in far more power than it can handle, and attempting to turn it into useful Energy in order to do things. Plus, I'm not entirely sure how the swingy madhouse moving-around Rampager style was supposed to mesh with the forced-stasis of the Discharge you recommended.

you know, i probably hadnt thought of that at allTodasmile wrote:Plus, I'm not entirely sure how the swingy madhouse moving-around Rampager style was supposed to mesh with the forced-stasis of the Discharge you recommended.
