Emphasis on in the offhand.
Mainhanded Mindstars eat penalties just fine.

Gift of the highborn works better for equilibrium management (w/fungus) then actual healing.
Lure can block corridors/rush/projectiles & travels at instant speed, also scout round corners
Wyrmics with burrow+lightning speed can dig fast & don't need to follow the sandworm burrowers.

Gift of the Highborn, combined with Ancestral Life (from the Fungus tree) allows you to get a (mostly or completely) free action for your next turn, as it does not cost a turn to use, but still recovers the energy.
Clarification for offhand mindstars: It is a minimum of 100% damage after multipliers. Examples:
Flurry (45% damage): 45% damage mainhand, 100% damage offhand
Whirlwind (210% damage): 210% damage mainhand, 105% damage offhand.

Cursed specific tricks:
1) Reckless Charge works better as an escape than as an offense. Same with Blindside and Rampage.
2) You don't need to have line of sight to use Beckon.
3) Your talents all work at global speed, so there is little penalty to using a slow weapon.
4) You can Reckless Charge out of a pin or a daze.

Telepathy on wilders (meditation + earth's eyes) will allow you to see while blinded.
A golem has infravision of 10.
A golem with a citrine gem infused in it's armour makes it easier to pick out bomb targets in the dark.

As rogue, if enemy is right beside you and you want to use trap on it, place trap under yourself and step back.
Re: conventional / unconventional wisdom / tips / tricks / e
Moving to the tile of an NPC makes them swap places with you. You can make them swap places repeatedly to move them in any direction you desire. By doing this, you can make an NPC go into the deep water in a town. The NPC will drown, and in the case of a rare NPC (randomly spawns in towns sometimes), they will drop loot and you will get experience points.

As a caster class, you should be able to save up 200-300 gold after three or four tier 1 dungeons. Unless you're particularly unlucky, you should also be able to get at least one arcane-powered artefact from a boss drop by this point. Take it to the apprentice mage, complete his quest, and you'll be able to use the gold you've saved up to buy a tier 3 yew staff capable of seeing you through the first half of the game before you've even hit your teens.

There's a version of this for melee classes, too; once you've saved up 200-300 gold, head for last hope immediately. They almost always sell fantastic dwarven-steel swords, axes, and greatmauls in the shops there.Velorien wrote:As a caster class, you should be able to save up 200-300 gold after three or four tier 1 dungeons. This may seems painfully obvious to experienced player, but it took me a while to realize: spells can crit and so do mind powers. Cunning isn't just for rogues, mages have a use for it too.
Re: conventional / unconventional wisdom / tips / tricks / e
Spell-based Heals can crit, and breaking stealth to cast a heal causes it to crit for bonus healing! Get that healing light on your rogue now!
