Re: Solipsist (Reality bending Psionicist)
Mmm, now we need distortion-damage egos.

Sorry about all the parentheses (sometimes I like to clarify things).
Re: Solipsist (Reality bending Psionicist)
I'm so excited for this class- Edge has shown a great deal of imagination conceptualizing this class(with help from the community) as well as ability in actually coding the damn thing.

Re: Solipsist (Reality bending Psionicist)
Alright, the class is in the SVN (minus sounds, particles, and an unlock). The SVN does not currently need a recompile from b41 to run so if anyone wants to do some early playtesting you can either pull the source using git or subversion or grab the tarball from here https://gitorious.org/te4/te4/archive-tarball/master
To unpack a tarball follow these instructions http://www.haskell.org/haskellwiki/How_ ... in_windows
Than just copy the exe and dll files over from b41 into your new tome file. The class is 'locked' so you'll need to add psionic_solispist = true and maybe psionic = true to your profiles allow_build file.
If you guys come across any bugs or balance issues either post them in this thread or tag them on the bug forums with [SVN-Solipsist].
Any feedback on balance is, as always, still appreciated

Re: Solipsist (Reality bending Psionicist)
Yay! Downloading right now.
Re: Solipsist (Reality bending Psionicist)
I downloaded the tarball, and ran it, but the solipsist didn't show up as a character that I could create, or even as a locked class. I did add "psionic_solispist = true" to my allow_build. I'm assuming this should be showing up next to the mindslayer?
Re: Solipsist (Reality bending Psionicist)
Jacob: Did you use notepad++ for the editing? Regular Notepad doesn't work.
Anyway, I played a yeek to level 7. I would love to play longer but I have work tomorrow. Initial impressions:
1. This class seems pretty powerful. Too soon to tell if it's imbalanced, though - necros are practically immortal at this level, and this class is probably weaker than that so far (but then again, pretty much everything is).
2. When a Thoughtform dies, it doesn't put the other Thoughtforms on cooldown. Bug or WAD?
3. The defender is probably the strongest Thoughtform for a class that is basically a fragile caster, but the bowman comes later. I doubt I would ever invest more than 3 class points in that tree.
Anyway, brilliant work, Edge. I can already tell I'll have bags of fun with this class.
Edit: Also, when you use the starting skill in the tree with Mind Sear, the text that describes the target's mental save being reduced is misspelled.

Re: Solipsist (Reality bending Psionicist)
Yup, I used notepad++. It's my favorite editor.

Re: Solipsist (Reality bending Psionicist)
I got the impression that part of the point of having multiple thoughtforms is that you could hot-swap them in as they died.
Re: Solipsist (Reality bending Psionicist)
1. Yeah, they feel pretty powerful to me too. I'd like to see how they do at higher levels before I make many adjustments. I know summon balance is one thing that's hard to get a hold of and I did test the durability and damage of Thought Forms at higher levels and they felt kinda fragile.Parcae2 wrote:Jacob: Did you use notepad++ for the editing? 2. Yeah, working as intended for now. They're supposed to be more like a Golem, only without anyway really to heal it. So instead you cycle through them.
3. The bowman is nice and gets really good damage at higher levels when he starts to spawn with more ammo and more points in Rapid Shot. That said, his AI feels quite lacking :/ I'll consider moving them.
Thanks

And fixed

@jacobdm and anyone else having problems with editing the allow_build
You can open up te4\game\modules\tome\data\birth\classes\psionic.lua and comment out lines 155 and 156. Just put a -- in front of the code on both lines and the class should be playable.
Re: Solipsist (Reality bending Psionicist)
That fixed it! Rolling up one now...

I am *on this*. I had
work to do tonight that now has no chance of being done.

Re: Solipsist (Reality bending Psionicist)- Thoughtform Tile
Hey Edge, I *love* this class. I'll give my feedback on it soon.
One thing that bothered me was that the thoughtforms looked like boring npcs. So I thought, what would a thoughtform look like? I spent some time with some of the tiles and I hope that you like the look of what I came up with for the three types- all based on Shockbolt art. I went for a uniform blurred, gradient look. I attached them here, I believe that they are in the right format and size.

Re: Solipsist (Reality bending Psionicist)
OK, the yeek psionicist is now level 17. It's still too early to give any real feedback on power, since casters usually don't have much difficulty with this part of the game anyway. I was worried that Dismissal would be too powerful, but so far it doesn't trigger much (only 3 points invested so far though).
Re: Solipsist (Reality bending Psionicist)
I like those tiles Grillkick. Are they based on Shockbolt tiles or are they modified Shockbolt tiles? Shockbolt's given me permission to alter some of his tiles (he's been really busy lately) but I think Darkgod wants to keep the tileset pure. So if it's the later I can probably use them.
That said, the generic tiles are actually PC tiles
It clones your character tiles and equips him as appropriate so as they level up they'll look better and better. Also, they'll be whatever race you are (so yeeks get yeek thought forms for instance). Some kinda blurred shader effect would be really cool. I would have used the shadow simulacrum shader but I'd already used it for something else and it shows up a lot so...

The three look like edits; they all match certain arena NPCs, I think.
