Re: Old RPG Tileset/GUI - updated for beta 37

#121 Post by daftigod »

Thanks for the quick reply, tiger_eye. Unfortunately I don't think it works...

if i do it that way, these are the directories that I can modify with a .teaa:

from tome-3.9.38-nomusic.team
-everything here. including the \ui\ folder with all the new minimal ui content. all the shockbolt tiles, 95% of the music, etc

these are the directories that I can not modify with that method or the alternate:

anything in \game\engines\te4-0.9.38.teae
-this is where the basic ui is stored, for many standard windows like the cursors as you said but also:
-most of the metal-ui
-parchments and tombstones
-the loading scroller

anything in \game\modules\boot-te4.0.9.38-nomusic.team
-this is where the menu music and tiles for the main menu background are located

Thanks for the help!

daftigod, I just tested an addon that replaces "game/engines/default/data/gfx/ui/mouse.png" with the file "tome-my_addon/overload/data/gfx/ui/mouse.png". I should note that it only applies after loading the tome module.

Isn't this what you want, or am I still misunderstanding?

My apologies tiger_eye, you are correct! It works! I was expecting it to load on boot and should have loaded the full module. I feel dumb for assuming the addon would first now especially since I already know better!

Ok here is an update for the svn.

download tome-oldrpg-beta38svn-teaa (19.5 MB): link removed, see OP for new version!

New stuff:
-Darkwood UI more fleshed out. Minimalism is in this year!
-Coupla more armors, ladies have knee high boots now. (Still wip, will look funky on halflings)
-All the stuff from the previous patch but better aligned

Install to the game\addons\ folder with the svn for beta 38 of ToME of course. If you're on windows you can download the latest b38 svn in this thread. Linux guys know what to do. I will update the OP with a download for tome-oldrpg-beta38 when b38 comes out.

I'm also thinking of separating the UI and the tileset into two different teaa files. Or looking into creating a new menu option some how for the UI menu. I don't like overloading any of shockbolt's work and would much rather have the player be able to choose one or the other instead of forced to use parts of mine if the teaa is installed. My apologies for this I'll work it out soon!

Keep up the good work! I wonder how this tileset would look in hex mode...

EDIT: Fairly decent drop in replacement for hex mode: http://imgur.com/Q4rGs.
<DarkGod> lets say it's intended

Is there a reason why this addon is not hosted on the te4 site, but rather mediafire?

I like to look on te4.org's addon link to see "all" add-ons, and yet, this one is not there.

Innit due to some lingering copyright issues?

Yeah what frumple said is partially true. The biggest reason, though, is because I'm lazy and haven't uploaded it to the site!

When I think about it though, I really don't want to get people here in trouble by having the tome site host my pack, which does indeed still have some copyrighted content in it.

Edit- also just found out the site has a 5 mb limit on addons, so mediafire it is for now!

Ok here's an updated version for b38, finally. It's not quite there yet; many things are misaligned still, and not even close to 100% cohesive yet with the player doll stuff. But it's a release!

Still mediafire for now, sorry for this. If anyone can't access mediafire but would like to check this out, send me a private message or post here and we can look into alternate methods of delivery.

Thanks for the great work you put into this!
I love how different the game feels with this tileset. The fun flavours of variety!

Just wanted to let you know though, that this error pops up:

and yeah, using b38 version of the addon.

[edit] Same thing happens with Darkwood UI when enabled by itself. [/edit]
