*DUH* Sometimes you just think wrong.

#1 Post by Tom »

Hello.

In Dreadfell I move downstairs only to find Emeludhewen, the injured seer.

The floor set up is something like this

123
456
789

We start in room 6.
Only exit is north to 3.
From 3 only exit is sw to 5.
But Emeludhewen refuses to leave 3.
When I ask him, the portal is still far to the SW.
Most likely somewhere down in 7 or 8, but that part is not explored yet.
What is clear is that there is some monster in 2, that attracts Emeludhewen to remain in 3.

This is PERFECT!!!
Now I could clean up the whole floor before taking out whatever there is in room 2.

But here comes the *DUH*
Tom, the triggerhappy little hobbit rushes up to room 2 before cleaning out.
Now the injured seer is following Tom down towards the unexplored area.

Not good play. Not good at all. :(

Can injured seers "see" beyond walls? The following happened once to me in Daikara in b28. On the way to the exit portal, we encountered a trapped wolf:

Code: Select all

#.#
#.#
#.#
#.###
#.#C#
#.###
#...#
The seer saw the wolf somehow, targeted it, and kept trying to attack it. I knew the wolf was there via a form a telepathy. This worked out for me, though, 'cause it allowed me to clear out the rest of the level while the seer was stuck on the wolf. When it was time to move on, I dug and killed the bugger.

Sort of the same thing, but well worth to remember and use to one's advantage.
I play b28 as well.

Tom

PS I managed to lead down my seer to safety despity the crappy play with the stuck to an enemy scenario.
