Unlocking cultists

Hey folks - does anyone know if there are conditions to getting the artifact drop to unlock cultists ? Say, a given class, race, and/or zone ? I'm on my third game looking for it and still no luck. :/ (Admittedly, one was to unlock Krog, so it was fairly specific.)

I can’t answer your question as written. However, if you get tired of waiting, you can pop into Devmode for one play through, hit Ctrl-A, and spawn all artifacts, then deactivate devmode.

I'm not tired of waiting - if it's pure random, then fine, I'll just keep trying and hope. I'd just hate to keep missing some obscure criteria that would allow or prevent it happening.Think trying to unlock Yeek while playing a Halfling - can't be done. I was just wondering if there's some condition like that for this class.

The tome that unlocks cultists has a max level of 45, IIRC. This means it probably won't spawn in the lategame areas. Forbidden tomes in general can spawn in the inventory of the merchant you rescue[Or Kaltor, if you're in EoR]. So if you're really determined to unlock them, then just speedrun a bunch of characters through the early game until one of those merchants has it in stock.
