Paradox Mage Survival of Ambushes

#1 Post by Ory »

I have tried multiple times to get a paradox mage to level 20 with no deaths... I can get to level 10 and survive 'dungeons', but when I get ambushed I have not been able to survive.

Any hints?

PM's have a lot of options for dealing with adventurers, but some more effective than others:

- Fight 1v1 as much as possible. If you start in sight of two (or more) enemies, you can dimensional step behind cover to hide, and they will not see you in time.
- scout with precognition, if you can. If you start safe, you can scout out all of the enemies, and plan appropriately.

- If you are fighting 2v1, change it. Time Skip, Banish, and Wormhole(?) can all remove one threat for some time, allowing you to fight 1v1 again.
- run behind cover. If you are fighting strong spellcasters, you can get a few turns of break by getting behind cover. As an added bonus, they will be in range of your short-range spells when they arrive.

- Keep the right sustain up. I play with one of Energy Absorption, Carbon Spikes, and Entropic Field up, swapping for casters, and melee. I rarely use Entropic Field.
- Use the right disables. Check the enemy's immunities and saves before using Temporal Fugue or Stop, in order to be more effective.

Other than that, it's basically the same as any other fight. I usually build to have at least 1 point in each talent to give me more options, but that's just personal preference.

Melee Talent Creator
Annotated Talent Code (incomplete)

Redux+Paradox Clone makes everything a lot of fun.

Does that still work? It's been a while since I played.
Step One: Redux
Step Two: Paradox Clone
Step Three: Watch game go insane.

im guessing that wont work.
redux replicates the next spell cast, on the next turn, which means that by the time you cast your second clone, the timeline will already be split, and it should fail.
mind you, i havent tried so i dont know :)
