So, 1.6.5 changes the weapon damage calculation (again). According to the description of the change the expected effects are to make weapon tier more important, to nerf mindstars in the lategame, and to generally increase weapon damage.
Just how much of a change is this to most lategame weapons? Are mindstars dead as a source of weapon damage?

Re: Weapon damage in 1.6.5
I've run some numbers on the damage changes.
Assuming I've got this correct, then looking at the output of combatDamage:
A character with 150 strength swinging a greatsword with combat training at 6.5 gets:
T5: 238.8 in 1.6.5 vs 231.2 in 1.6.4
T1: 149.5 in 1.6.5 vs 196.2 in 1.6.4
A character with 100 Will, 100 Cunning, Superpower, 50 strength, and Mindstar Mastery at 6TL, gets the following with mindstars:
T5: 132.3 in 1.6.5 vs 169.9 in 1.6.4
T1: 85.4 in 1.6.5 vs 159.6 in 1.6.4.

Re: Weapon damage in 1.6.5
What about something like the tentacle damage from Writhing One? Does that even have a tier?
Re: Weapon damage in 1.6.5
For the above numbers, I took the average value for power from object definition files. A T5 greatsword lists a power range of 58-66 in that file, so I used 62.whitelion wrote:What about something like the tentacle damage from Writhing One? Does that even have a tier?
Looking in the character vault, seems that Mutated Hand at max level and 6.5TL has a power range of 47.6-66.7, with a training multiplier of +57%. Plugging that in, and asserting a character with Arcane Might, 100 Magic/Spellpower, and 100 Strength, I'm getting numbers of 198.7 in 1.6.5 and 195.4 in 1.6.4.
Re: Weapon damage in 1.6.5
So more or less the same. Thanks for doing the math on that.
Re: Weapon damage in 1.6.5
One thing that just occurred to me: this means that it's now more important for brawlers to use metal gloves than leather ones, right?
