Well the answers are about as expected: stack more +damage%. Unfortunately this is in the hands of item drop RNG.

I made the character purely for the Ice and Drolem unlock and it got those easily. As bpat said, I chose Doomelf for the mobility.

I just want to apologize for the tone of the responses you got. Why is that I sound like an arrogant jerk whenever I try to help someone on the internet? Sorry about that. Also grats on the unlocks.

I saw a video from back near the Steam release, before they apparently drastically remade the alchemist class. The basic bomb tree was the same, as was the golem stuff, but all the infusions were in one single tree, and the only other talents they had to compensate for the missing stuff they have now in the infusion trees was a locked category called fire alchemy.

There aren't any big changes that need noting for Alchemist in 1.5, are there?

I just noticed golem resilience might have been nerfed on this latest update (1.5.1). It gives stat decreases at talent level one now. Not a big change but it's a bit annoying.

EDIT: I've been informed that this is how it's always been. I suppose I didn't read it carefully prior to this update, oops!

Thanks for the guide! I've been referring back to this a lot during my alchemist playthrough. What's a recommended stat distribution for the golem? I started off pumping everything into magic to increase the effectiveness of the eye beam, a few points into strength for equipment, and the rest have now been going into con since I used an escort to teach my golem vitality.

Items that add to the resistance penetration of your element are also nice, but those are usually inferior to simple boosts of the damage type. For example, if a monster has 10% resistance and you have an item increasing resistance penetration by 10%, it will increase your net damage by only 1%.
I'm going to have to argue with you on this point. If a monster has 10% resist to what you are using, it's probably a trash mob, and you don't need to worry about the damage you do. For real threats, or even trash mobs with immunity, that 10% can make a world of difference. I'd much rather have 10% penetration for the bonus it gives for things that are an actual threat.

Thanks for guide. I have finished game and it was very easy. At the high peak my fire bombs deals around 2k dmg + burning effect, because of 100% crit chance. I even save Aerin at last fight. I also played Cursed, Bulwark and Rogue, and think that Alchemist most powerful among them :D, because of his insane AoE dmg. He have only one big disadvantage - lack of active skills after using bomb, because Caustic mire, Dissolving acid, Thunderclap have big cd, so i find items with active skills. I have two rods (gwai burninator and somthing acid) and ring with Arcane thrust. They really helps a lot.

About prodigies, i pick temporal form, but almost never use it, i just stacked fire res penetration and burnt out everything :)
