shops and artifacts - a question

If I see an artifact on shop display (and can't afford it), will it have a chance to pop up later on in the game?

Yep, it might appear later in the game as a random item in a dungeon or in a shop.

In fact you can have multiple copies of at least some of them. I had 2 rings of the Dead with my last fighter.
