My particle effects were frozen with fear

Exploring the Old Forest level 7 and I start running down a corridor. I ran around a corner and BAM! Wrathroot hits me with freeze and my particle effects decide they want to stay on the safe side of the corner. Not quite sure what happened, but here is the stdout.
