Some Talents seem to scale well and others don't. I am sure there are many more examples, but some which I am looking at are:
Shield Pummel, Shield Wall, Shield Expertise: These all have excellent and clear reasons to take at 5/5
Overpower and Assault: These on the other hand seem to give most of their benefit with the 1st point and little for the next 4.
An "easy" change which would make taking more ranks in those two would be to reduce the Stamina cost and/or the Cooldown. A 10-15% reduction at Ranks 2-5?
I am just a simple Fighter at this point, but I am sure these apply elsewhere as well. Everything is a careful balance though I am sure.
Cheers...

Re: Talent Scaling
"careful" I dunno but I tried to
But yes I agree some talents do scale better than others so please do tell when you think some do.
As for assault & overpower it's kinda true, the damage bonus should maybe be spread more ?

Re: Talent Scaling
I'd say Assault and Overpower should start much weaker and end a little higher.
Re: Talent Scaling
Off hand I woudl agree. Assault in particular is a massive Rank 1 and trivial improvement for Ranks 2-5. But hard to balance in isolation. Don't want to nerf just Fighters.
Re: Talent Scaling
Shield Pummel, Overpower, and Assault could all gain extra hits as you invest points in them.
For example.
Shield Pummel could just do the stun hit and at talent level 4 do the non-stun hit.
Overpower could do the weapon strike plus the knockback shield strike with an additional non-knockback shield strike at talent level 4.
Assault could do the shield strike plus one auto-crit attack with an additional auto-crit attack at talent level 4.
In other words, all of these talents could scale like Earthen Missiles

Re: Talent Scaling
So, if I read that right edge, you want to nerf all 3 of a fighters attacks?

Re: Talent Scaling
...'cause, you know, fighters were so horribly overpowered to start with.
Re: Talent Scaling
Then buff the fighter in other areas to compensate.
The fact is, for the points you spend, Overpower and Assault (Shield Pummel to a lesser degree) are unbalanced. You get 90% of the talent's power up front.
No class that uses these talents (and they're not fighter only talents) has any reason to spend more then one point on any thing except Shield Pummel (because of the stun duration). That doesn't feel right to me.
If the 'nerf' I'm proposing makes fighters to weak, buff them in other areas or give these abilities flat out more damage over the course of their scaling. But I think we can all agree if we look at it subjectively that it's not the weapon damage percentage that makes any of these talents so great for one point, it's the fact that they all hit more then once.
