Just a reminder, I usually hang out in the irc channel #tome on irc.rizon.net, so does quite a few other people. You are welcome to join us :)

Discussed topics include gameplay, strategies, ideas we are too lazy to post here in the forums, and module making.
And other less useful stuff too :D
Come join us!

For the lazy, here's a mibbit link too http://mibbit.com/#tome@irc.rizon.net

I've used mIRC for years, and have never encountered the stupid bit about it not letting to continue to use the evaluation copy after the 30 days. I've uninstalled and redownloaded and the program still remembers that I had a previous, now faulted copy. I will never pay the 20USD, anyone have any idea how I can get back on?

google for "free IRC client"? It certainly did appear that there were a few out there when I checked.

I'm using Chatzilla, which is actually a firefox plugin.

I use XChat, both for windows and Ubuntu. It's not much different from mIRC

I use Miranda IM. It's a nice multiprotocol client — I also use it for ICQ and Jabber. That's pretty convenient. :)

Idea: what about posting a link to the irc channel on the main page? Between 'Forums' and 'Wiki', I say...

Please... please... if you post a link to the IRC channel on the web site, be sure you do NOT make it in the form of some in-browser abomination where a newcomer would have to enable Javascript (or Flash) and click a link and then try to figure out what server and channel it took him to, reverse-engineering the connection so that he can launch a NORMAL IRC client to get to the same place....

... like certain other games do.... :(

Yeah, I also think a main link is important (or at least would be a good idea).

But I agree, one should have just the info AND a mibbit link (or whatever else ppl want to use).

Seems using mIRC is "out". Even faster than have to install Chatzilla in our Firefox's people that already have Opera browser can log in right away without plugins. It's another option at your choice. But a lot of IM's have too IRC support like Adium.

The IRC channel seems to be dead. Does nobody go there anymore? Whenever I connect via the mibbit link, I'm in there by myself.

Maybe something wrong with your mibbit setup? I've never seen the channel empty, though lately it has been much quieter (I presume partly due to the in-game chat).

I think I figured it out now. Mibbit was confused about where the channel was supposed to be, and instead of taking me to the #tome channel that already exists on rizon.net, it was taking me to some other place and making a shiny new #tome channel there instead.
