It seems quite tricky to remove worthless items from the game at present, yet not to do so makes for a growing overhead - am thinking particularly about archers who accumulate heaps of second-rate arrows needing to be shifted in and out of memory because you can't simply destroy stuff (or can you, dunno how). One possibility is to leave town laden down with bundles of elm and leave them at the top level of a dungeon for the langoliers, but that feels a bit weird and there's so many features of T4 which target improvement of playability that it seems a shame. So how about equipping the towns with rubbish bins ? ... stand on one and drop stuff, you can pick it up again until you leave town but then the council come and empty them.
Another model would be to have shops accept home-made stuff at zero price, rather than them just 'doing nothing' with it - to be distributed to the poor or whatever.
Still on archers, how about an archery range where you can test out your favourite new kit to see how much damage it dishes up - with various target posts in the style of (armour, resistances etc akin to) various beasties. There's enough arrows in a stack now (no scuttling round to pick them up) that a few could be spared to find out just how much whallop your swanky new yew job delivers. Maybe there could be a quest for membership of the club.

Re: Rubbish Bins
About destroying items, if you 'd'rop something in the map, it will get destroyed.
As far as the warning says.
