As a mage, you don't care about damage rings since they will only increase the physical damage you would do with your staff
????
A +X% fire damage will apply to ALL fire damage dealt by the character, no matter the source.

So why doesn't wearing a ring change anything in spell description? Bug?

The talent descriptions indeed to not take those in account it's quite annoying to change I must admit :/

So these rings won't benefit a summoner since it's the imp that is doing the damage but will help an alchemist with their bombs?

Yup!

Although I am pondering making it transfer to Summoner's creatures

That would be neat but I wasn't really complaining, just making sure I understood. :D

In beta11, I simply wait to get plain metal rings and jewels and imbue resistance or stat rings. About Angmar's Fall, the bonuses (+7 spellpower and +8 crits) are really too low to be very useful, and by the time I finish the first few dungeons I almost always find a good ego staff with at least +15 spellpower... so that artifact staff always serves for the Novice Mage quest.
A quick dive into the code supports my first response to your message... increased damage WILL affect spells. I have not tested this and will try to do that later, but it should be fairly easy to check with Flame (not Lightning, it does variable damage).

EDIT: Wow, I am attacked by a whole pack of ninjas on that one... sorry for the now defunct post.
<DarkGod> lets say it's intended

If that's the case having the new elven racial benefit summons too would be nice. Improved damage from willpower is nice and all but mages and wyrmics seem to get the most use out of it.
