Re: Character build
I would like to have an option to change the assigned skills. Some classes seem ok with the points as they are, but with the shadowblade, not having any points in weapon combat makes it really hard to hit anything at level 1.

I'd also be happy to have suggestions as to how change the assignments

Re: Character build
Auto-assigned points would be great with a Tutorial mode

Re: Character build
Ah ha! Make them auto assigned on easy difficulty.
Re: Character build
Votes with registeringislame. That is excellent. People who want extra freedom and no training wheels shouldn't be on easy anyway.
Re: Character build
I Second that idea, it sounds perfect for easy mode.
And you can open another thread for default talents/skills/stats assigments ideas, if you want to.

Re: Character build
Oh Yes I like the idea.. hummm
Maybe I should make a complete "tutorial mode", with no race/class, easy mode, help popups and one little zone ?

Re: Character build
I'd also like to voice my strong dislike of the initial stat/skill distribution change, and also with the talent/skill split even moreso.
I'd be very relieved to see the auto assignment optional, and I like the tutorial idea a lot.
As far as skills vs. stats, I really don't like them being separate currently. I'd b much happier with the old .4 system. If you really want to have some sort of split system, I recommend making skills and talents clearly distinct categories with roughly an equal number of each for each class. Even better though: use one pools of points for passive and sustained stuff, and another pool for active ones.

Re: Character build
Yeah the split is not good yet for all classes, mage are probably the ones for which it works the best, warriors maybe too.
I agree that for it to work all classes need roughtly the same number of available talents & skills (this was already a need before the split anyway)

Re: Character build
What are your thoughts on basing the division of skills and talents on active or passive use?
btw, I hate to make my first post here a critical one, but I've honestly loved just about everything else so far, spectacular work!

Thanks
Well I think passive does not mean less usefull or class-defining, and I think I prefer to have the separation on class-definition

Re: Character build
I really feel that some talent points should be auto assigned at character generation. This shows the flavor that everyone of this class/profession has to learn this ability to even be considered that class/profession. Plus, not auto assigning and just giving them out for free really would make the game even more munchkin.
Though I do wish that we would get talent category points at every set of 10 levels, instead of only up to level 30.
