Wood Elves?

#1 Post by Zaive »

Well, I suppose I'll try to think of a new race.. I don't really know a lot of lore behind The Lord of The Rings, so I may get details wrong (Like say, if this race even exists >.>). Also, I really can't think of a good description.

Wood Elf: These elves live as hunters in in the forest. While not as smart or cunning as the Nandor, Their lifestyle in the forest has caused them to become stronger, and more agile.

Base Stats
STR:10
DEX: 13
MAG: 10
WIS: 13
CUN: 10
CON: 10

I tried to keep the stat bonuses at 6, since most of the races are that way (Nandor, Hobbits, and Dwarves all have 6 more stat points overall than the bree-man. (At least in the comparison I made playing beta 1 >.>)). They have the same wisdom as normal elves; since most wilders use wisdom, and these elves are forest dwellers, it makes sense that they would make good wilders.

Feanor.81's idea looks a lot better than this one, but I started typing this before he posted it. >.>

Ok, there's lots of different groups of elves in Middle Earth lore, and many of the groups overlap.

So, there are wood elves (aka Silvan elves). But the Silvan elves were mostly Nandorin (with a few Sindarin mixed in, and some Noldor in leadership positions). All the elves of Lothlorien and Mirkwood were Silvan elves, of Nandorin descent, although Legolas was a Silvan elf of Sindarin descent, and Galadriel was a Noldor (that is, a High Elf).

There's a picture here, though it may just confuse you :-) http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:Sunde ... _Elves.png

Basically, in the beginning, the elves awoke, and some of them went west with the Valar to live in the undying lands, and some of them didn't. The ones that went west got "upgraded" by living in the presence of the Valar, and became High Elves. Some of the High Elves came back to Middle Earth for complicated reasons. They're more powerful in every respect than the ones who stayed behind, but most of the High Elves have now left Middle Earth again.

The Avari -- the "unwilling" -- were those elves who refused the summons of the Valar in the beginning. Because of this they're effectively the most primitive elves -- perhaps you could say that the Avari are to the Nandor what the drugs (remember Ghan-buri-ghan?) are to the Rohirrim.

HTH :-)
