Missing one of the Orbs of Commands
I am missing the orb of destruction. One of the orc pride bosses didn't drop an orb unless i totally missed it.

Re: Missing one of the Orbs of Commands
I know in beta 9, grushnak pride did not have the orb dropped, but I havent gotten that far in beta 10 yet (just about to do mt doom after I finish up the regular middle earth quests.
Oliphant am I, and I never lie.

Damnit !
DAMNIT DAMNIT DAMNIT !
There I am, polishing the endgame, making dialogs, multiple bosses and various events and I frelling forget to include the last orb !
Sorry :/
I have re-uploaded beta10b with the fix, so if you download it you can get it to drop (wont fix existing saves obviously :/ )

Re: Missing one of the Orbs of Commands
Old 10b savefiles are still compatible right?
Re: Missing one of the Orbs of Commands
Yes you can update and use the old save as long as you haven't killed the boss drops the orb of destruction. I did at least.
Re: Missing one of the Orbs of Commands
Yeah but if you already killed grushnak you can't get it unless you use debug mode :/

Re: Missing one of the Orbs of Commands
You could add a quick hack on loading a game to see if both the orb and the boss that usually holds it are in the game.uniques table. If they are not then reset the zone (or grant the player the orb, or...)

Re: Missing one of the Orbs of Commands
A unrelated (well, related only by coincidence) issue discussed here brought up a solution how to recover a char that killed Grushnak and didn't get the Orb because of this bug:
1. Leave the Grushnak pride (for safety you shouldn't stand there - dunno what will happen if you do).
2. Save & Exit and close ToME.
3. Go to you savefile folder and delete the "zone-grushnak-pride.teaz" file.
4. Load ToME and simply clear the Pride again. The boss will be there again and this time drop the Orb of Command (if you updated your tome to the version where the Orb can be dropped of course
).
5. Continue killin' the blue twins.

Re: Missing one of the Orbs of Commands
actually, no that is if the game crashes after you kill grushnak but your save is before that.

Re: Missing one of the Orbs of Commands
Ah, I see. The "killed unique XY" is seperately stored in the character savefile then? My bad.

Re: Missing one of the Orbs of Commands
Dang, dang, dang, dang, dang, dang.
So I screwed up. I downloaded 11b, and put it in my tome folder. I ran it, got a rogue to unlock mages, then created a mage. Then I played until I killed Grushnak again, and NO ORB!!!!
It turns out I've been playing 9 all along--again. I think I must have copied the wrong version, or there's some complexity with how macs handle executables, or something. I can figure that out on my own. (I'll know I've "solved it" when, for example the bottom of the intro screen says "11"! I am an idiot!)
But: for now, I'm stuck, again, with a mage I've worked hard on, and only one orb after killing two pride leaders.
Is there *any* fix for this? Any fix at all for my stupid installation oversight? Can I modify any file? I know the suggested fix in the thread above doesn't work. Can I switch to 11, change my character in wizard mode or something so I have the orb, and talk to Aeryn?
I'm just afraid I can't start any more characters for now if this doesn't work. If anyone knows any method whatsoever of solving this, let me know. Otherwise I'll give up for a few months, and maybe come back later.
Thanks so much!

You can enable cheating and use the Lua console to give yourself the last Orb. I'll PM you instructions to avoid tempting others unnecessarily.

Re: Missing one of the Orbs of Commands
Thanks so much! Sorry for the bother.
I am a bit confused now, though...about how to get T-Engine beta 11b, or which version I'm using at all. I decided to download the executable all afresh.
I downloaded 11b. I start it, and at the bottom it says: T-Engine4 version: 0.9.10.
That seems like it'd be beta 9, right? Shouldn't it say 0.11.xx?
For macs, I am under the impression that the dmg package contains the executable (if I "show package contents", there's a UNIX executable file dated Sep 22, 2010, so that must be 11b, since that's when the devblog notes its release). And then, the Library/Application Support/T-Engine folder contains all the facts about save-files, etc.
So I thought I could just download 11b, start it, and it would use my old save-files. Am I wrong? When I start the executable, it should say 0.11.xx, and it should use my old character?
Am I downloading from an unrefreshed webpage or something weird...? I refreshed and tried again... am I wrong in thinking 0.9.10 means beta 9? (But then why was there no orb?) Am I wrong in thinking I can use old save-files?
Hmmm.
But on the original topic, yufra, thanks for PMing me, regarding Lua for the last orb. I really appreciate your help, and for saving my mage! He killed one big boss with only 10hp to spare; it's a miracle he wasn't burning at the time. (Or he would have had to choose between insufficiently healing himself, then being killed by the boss, or taking the boss down with him. Obvious choice, I guess.)

Re: Missing one of the Orbs of Commands
If I recall correctly the beta 11b version released for Mac was actually beta 10. With beta12 due this weekend I would just wait for the new release.
