As for the saves online... my first reaction is no, but, before you do this you need to find out how much space is going to be alloted to each person. My first impression is that there will be needed around 100 Mb per person who uses this (note there are too many variables to accurately measure this amount right now, such as the size of the save file when everything is incorporated, and whether they will be compressed or not... right now the low end is around 15-20 Mb uncompressed for one save).. Then if you compound that by an approximation of how many people will eventually play and use this feature, I think there will be at least 2-5 Tb needed just for saves.... is it worth it?
and an online quickbirth isnt really needed, is it? I mean how hard is it to go through all the steps again... I could see this as maybe an optional thing, but not something that happens automatically.
Basic statistics: total-deaths, total-kills, # of times artifacts collected (individually), score (whenever it is implemented), monster most killed (and amount), achievements (and number of times achieved), uniques killed (and amount)...*
other stuff that could be fun: damage dealt/received, scrolls read, potions quaffed, wands/rods zapped, # times avoided death (via resurrection (BoL or skeleton power))
*note: for artifacts and uniques, this is for multiple games, so this amount can be greater than 1.
I agree quickbirth is undeeded.
Savefile sync is planned but I need more work for it to work and as shoob says it's quite a huge strain on the harddrive space so I cant do it on this server I think if I do it eventually I'll make it store either ona big big fat server or on some cloud storage, but both options are costly, I imagine I'd make it an option with a small subscription price to pay for the server, if enough people are interrested.
I would need to make it ableto sync in the background too because otherwise the lag would be horrible.
