A couple of Bard issues

#1 Post by Lord Estraven »

Right off the bat I can see a big problem with the Bard class: "Stop Singing" has a nonzero fail rate. That's pretty ridiculous. :o

Aside from that though, instruments' spell ranges being affected by their pvals strikes me as a very bad idea. Instruments are already uncommon items; to give them a pval requirement for certain spells is crazy, making useful instruments almost impossible to find.

Personally, I am of the school that instruments should have zero benefit aside from trhe musical spells they provide, with said spells not requiring pval.

Oh, also... I know this isn't going to generate a lot of responses, seeing as ToME2 is considered a dead end. But there are some seriously broken classes in ToME2, and let's face it, T3 isn't going to be beta quality for a while. So I think we ought to be doing more than just "maintenance" on T2 and actually fixing some of the major balance issues.

I'm not particularly interested in fixing bugs per se, but I'll be happy to merge any patches people have to my branch.

I installed tome again on a netbook to play a bit while travelling. I played a few bards to level 50 3-4 years back.

Where there any changes to the bard class from 2.33/2.34 to 2.35?

Bards were allways different, they demanded a special unusual playstyle. But because of this unusual playstyle i played them more carefully it seems. Never got any other class to 50, always overestimating myself. But 3 bards because i know i had to be careful with them.

Were the old posts from years back deleted?

All the old posts were deleted when the forum was hacked (except for ones that had a survey attached).
