Re: Wiki - Lord Dimwit's Guide truncated
I registered with no problem, using Gmail.
I've very glad to see the new wiki is up. I'm a little curious as to why it took a month or so for it to come up, and we'll need to start pointing people at it instead of the old one, but glad nonetheless. I've started copying what I have of my guides over.

Right now, both the old and new wiki are unaccessable for me. The other ToME pages are, but the 2 wikis are not.
Re: Wiki - Lord Dimwit's Guide truncated
Today (one day after registration), I checked my inbox and finally saw the email from the inbox. The email must have taken more than a few hours to reach my inbox at AIM Mail.madmonk wrote:My standard account (for this sort of thing) is an Yahoo one and it did not receive any email (just like you)... Changing to a different account sorted the problem.
I was using the wikis when they failed. I clicked 'create new page', that worked. Then I copied the Lord Dimwit's Guide from the old wiki and clicked 'Preview' in the new wiki (to see where to change the syntax). The preview never came, but I lost access to both wikis.FACM wrote:Right now, both the old and new wiki are unaccessable for me. The other ToME pages are, but the 2 wikis are not.
Re: Wiki - Lord Dimwit's Guide truncated
I'm not able to connect again today. Is there some periodic maintenance going on that I keep hitting, or is there a server stability issue with the wikis?
Re: Wiki - Lord Dimwit's Guide truncated
I was able to connect last night but can't get through now.

The server may not be anywhere near Neil.
The doku server has an Ip address of 70.87.170.170. This is registered in Texas...

Re: Wiki - Lord Dimwit's Guide truncated
There may be a problem with the server. I just got this email on the mailing list from Neil:
Thanks!
If anyone has noticed this behaviour, please post here and I will let Neil know.Well, maybe it wasn't MoinMoin after all, since my server has started
crashing again since the recent wiki discussion.
Has someone in particular noticed the server stop responding after edits?
Thanks!

Re: Wiki - Lord Dimwit's Guide truncated
About 4 to 8 hours ago, I had a second failure. I clicked 'Preview' and the server stopped responding. Here is the complete sequence of events.Kernigh wrote:I was using the wikis when they failed. - I read my email and get my new doku password.
- I login to doku for the first time.
- I successfully edit [[playground:playground]].
- I successfully create [[user:kernigh]].
- I successfully edit [[tome2:frontpage]].
- I begin to create [[tome2:ldasg]].
- I copy the entire text from http://wiki.t-o-m-e.net/Spoilers/Lord_D ... action=raw to the form in the new wiki.
- I click 'Preview'. The server fails to respond. I never save [[tome2:ldasg]].
- About 23 hours ago, I post in this thread that 'I lost access to both wikis.'
- Later, I notice that the wikis are online. There is no page at [[tome2:ldasg]], because I never saved it.
- I successfully create [[tome2:ldasg]], with only the first two chapters. I successfully 'Preview' many times, then 'Save' once.
- I take a break for many hours.
- About 4 to 8 hours ago, I begin to edit [[tome2:ldasg]].
- I copy section '3.1 How Not to Stab Yourself in the Eye' to the form, and successfully use 'Preview' many times, while I change the wiki syntax.
- I copy section '3.2 Fighting Effectively with Magic' to the form.
- I click 'Preview'. The server fails to respond.
Re: Wiki - Lord Dimwit's Guide truncated
Thank you for that, I have let Neil know, and I expect he will be on to it shortly.

Re: Wiki - Lord Dimwit's Guide truncated
The wiki's been down completely for me for a while, but it seems to be working fine to day.
Re: Wiki - Lord Dimwit's Guide truncated
Neil is reporting that he has fixed the problem, so if people want to try again, please do so!
Thank you!
Thank you!

Re: Wiki - Lord Dimwit's Guide truncated
At least under linux running firefox the fix to Lord Dimwits Strategy Guide was not effective. I also tried under windows and IE from work and it suffered the same problem.
It looks to me to be that the issue is changing the original /* comments */ to */ comments /*. All the change did was comment the uncommented characters.
I recommend a change where */ /* are both changed to {{{ and }}} respectively. (assuming {{{/}}}) are not special to the wiki). This should preserve the intent of the original. I haven't done much wiki work but I am creating an account now and if possible I will correct it. Nothing that a little work with sed and awk can't fix. I have a few archive copys of the document as well. I recently did a full reread which was very helpful as I haven't played TOME since 2003 or so. Now I am addicted again and am trying to make a voiddiving dark-elf sorceror. I never did the void before.

Re: Wiki - Lord Dimwit's Guide truncated
*No, no, no! That is a trap!* If you create an account, then you will never correct the guide! As I already wrote in this thread, 'after the upgrade, the wiki has never allowed anyone to edit pages'. This refers to the old wiki with the broken guide.djwid wrote:At least under linux running firefox the fix to Lord Dimwits Strategy Guide was not effective.... As madmonk already wrote in this thread, we have a new wiki at http://doku.t-o-m-e.net/. I welcome you to create an account there.
Now http://doku.t-o-m-e.net/tome2:ldasg is the new home of
Lord Dimwit's Advanced Strategy Guide.
Everyone may go there, and correct the guide, and also help seed the ToME 2 namespace.
