New forum styling
So since I was able to update the forum software, we lost the Chronicles skin, which I really did like. So, I wanted your opinions on which of the following style you preferred.
1: The Nexus - http://www.phpbb.com/styles/demo/3.0/in ... yle_id=465
2: ProNight - http://www.phpbb.com/styles/demo/3.0/in ... tyle_id=26
3: Xandgrey - http://www.phpbb.com/styles/demo/3.0/in ... yle_id=155
4: eTech - http://www.phpbb.com/styles/demo/3.0/in ... tyle_id=33
Choose the one's you'd like to see made a part of the forum's new look. You're able to select up to two options.

Nexus or eTech
And on the first day I wrote a line of code, on the second I wrote ten, on the third day I rested with a beer, admiring all I had accomplished

Re: New forum styling
Votes cast (first 2 options).
Maybe there's something I'm not figuring out, but something is different with getting access to posting and polls. although I was logged in, the poll buttons and new-thread/reply buttons weren't there. Not sure what I did to get them, but I think it was linking from announcements from the user control panel rather then the board index. This was both firefox and safari on OSX.
Anyway thanks guys for keeping the forum current!

Re: New forum styling
The forum software was just recently updated. Could be due to that.

Re: New forum styling
Delighted to be back to eTech. I set it to that option long ago, but somehow Chronicles won over. I thought Chronicles was over the top - rather too ornate.
Re: New forum styling
Thanks for the new look! It sure looks fresh. Almost inviting

Re: New forum styling
I voted for pronight. I am old and my eyes have trouble distinguishing active topics on the current setup.

Re: New forum styling
So I've installed Pronight, eTech and Nexus into the forums. I've previewed all of them, and honestly I'm leaning towards eTech. Very nice looking skin.
Anyway, if we do this, I'll need someone to make up a new banner for the page. Any takers?

Re: New forum styling
what would the banner be? (image (jpg, gif, png, etc), or something else?)
I assume an image. If so I could try, though it would be nice to know which layout is decided and vary the banner accordingly.
I must say that I don't have much experience, but I have been pleased with other similar projects I have done.

http://z8.invisionfree.com/xandorsdomain
That big image at the top that has "Xandor's RPG Domain" written on it is the banner. I want to use eTech since it looks the best, but the banner doesn't allow me to put in ToME, so I'll need a new one. Stylish. Perhaps I could make a competition out of it.

Re: New forum styling
yeah... I was more wondering what you wanted it to be sent to you as.
I probably will end up using a background that was painted by John Howe as they look like they will fit the theme pretty well.
and what should it read "ToME"?
I assume it should say something about Tomenet as well. but I am not sure (I forget what the old forum banner read)
and one last thing, what should the dimensions be?

Re: New forum styling
The banner should definitely read "ToME/ToME NET" or however it's actually spelled.
As far as dimensions goes, I'm not too good with pixels, but I'm going to be using eTech as the primary skin for the forum, at least for now, though I'd like banners designed for each of the three new skins.

See up at the top where it says "Our Community, where you're always welcome?" The banner has to fit within that area.

Re: New forum styling
the dimensions for that banner is:
340 (width) by 76 (height) in pixels
however, that area should just expand to hold any size banner (we just don't want to make it too big) (the coding there does not have anything that limits the size of the banner)
so I would say make the dimensions bigger than that one and then have contest
as it would have more options and would encourage people to participate in these forums... I would put the deadline by mid december and then have them up in polls for the remainder of december (these are at the latest, if you want to end it sooner, go ahead).
