most popular rogue-likes

I'm not sure how often these things pop up, but there's a popularity contest going on here. I've seen it posted over at oook and in a DCSS thread on another board.

Right now ToME is not doing too well.

It is beating Rogue, my first love (sigh).

My top votes (after Tome) would have been Rogue, Nethack, Angband, and Larn. I still play Rogue when I am in a nostalgic mood, but haven't looked at the others in years.

I selected ToME, although I'm starting to really dig Dungeon Crawl. i like DCSS's playability- features like auto-explore and goto on the map are pretty sweet. Vanilla has its charms too.

I've only played three of them.

Moria about 20 years ago on my Amiga is the only one I ever finished. (Halfling Mage with Dagger of Godly might and other equipment that made it almost as fast as a Large Leprecaun)

After a very long break I got bored and discovered Angband and from there went to TOME (about 3-4 months so far).

At the moment TOME is my favourite as it is the most entertaining but it is giving me bad habits with the 98 quests and charge through levels getting good items from the princess.

If I charged anywhere in Angband I'd just get a nice new tombstone.
