Stuck in the Mountains

Quite literally.

My character (level 24ish Rohanknight unbeliever), when exploring the wilderness outside of Bree, moved diagonally from one wilderness map to another. This moved the character from a woods map to a mountain map. However, where he ended up, he cannot move back -- instead of the corner being a clear space, it is a woods space, and the edges are all mountains.

He cannot tunnel through the mountains, and is stuck in the lower-right corner of the map.

I've tried using word of recall to recall to the end of the burrowdowns and walking back up, but when I exit on floor one, it puts me back in the same mountain clearing.

And since he's an unbeliever, I can't use magical digging.

Is there any way to reset the character location to somewhere useful?

Can you enter the overland travel map (type "<")? This should change the scale of the map and let you move back to Bree or wherever more quickly.

If you really want to walk around the wilderness again, type ">" to get back.

edit: I've never heard of taking the up-stairs from BD1 not bringing you to the BD entrance outside of bree. how strange!

The overhead map move should get you out, unless you are surrounded by forest and mountain squares. Be careful wandering around the wilderness without good ways of escape.

When you come out of a dungeon after recalling in, you return to the spot you were in originally. Try starting a new character, buying a ? of Recall, recalling to the first level of the BD, and then coming out. You will be back where you started, not on the BD stairs.
