FumbleFingers Upgrade
I think i remember some topic on changing the FumbleFinger quest to something else but that was when I was someone else's computer and I didn't want to save the cookies. My idea for the FF quest is to change it to...
Vengeful Adventurer (or something along that vein)
An adventurer has been defeated on level X by a group of (Y monsters). Slay the monsters who killed him so he will be able to rest in peace!
like the entering of level message, the spirit says...
You hear a voice in your head say: "Please noble adventurer, hear me out. I was ambushed and slain by a group of (number) monsters, and they have defiled my body and pilfered my posessions! Slay them all so that I can show them what real pains feels like when I meet them in the underworld! You will be rewarded if you do so...'
The reward will be the same as the original FF quest, with the spirit saying-
You have done well. I will grant you knowledge of a certain skill, or summon a (name of companion... could be a golem or such) to aid you in your travels...
and the rest is the same as the normal FF.
Of course, there is the problem of why can't the adventurer summon the golem beforehand and do away with the monsters, but you can say that he is helpless until his body is put to rest.
I might post my idea on changing the princess quest into the "sentient/fabled treasure chest", which is similar to the princess quest but takes away the problem of having an invincible lady and sounds less corny. Perhaps outdoor quest ideas too, which include outdoor quests too.

Well, i meant for my quest to have the same rewards as FF, so it would be a bit pointless to have that and FF... but you're right, i guess it could be a totally seperate quest with different rewards. Of course... none of this will happen without DG's approval...

deadguy could give you a different group of skills than fumblefingers. Perhaps deadguy gives you magic related skills and fumblefingers gives you combat related skills -- no, I don't want to learn swordmastery from someone who had his sword stolen by yellow mushroom patches.
Maybe there should be a joke monster "fumblefingers the adeventurer" who is like a nazgul in not dieing, but is native to the town, is slightly weaker than a BSV, and always drops an unenchanted broadsword.

Another version of the fumblefingers could feature an item stolen by one of the quest monsters (or to a random monster on the level). As with the relic quests, it completes when you find that item. Maybe it could be an ego item and you could have the choice of keeping it, or giving it back and getting a reward. This would make the quest a cross between the princess and fumblefingers.
has been discussed before. may be on the not to do list by now. it's one of those devious ideas about princess and fumblefingers quests.Zombie Yeek wrote:Another version of the fumblefingers could feature an item stolen by one of the quest monsters (or to a random monster on the level). if everything's coming your way, you're in the wrong lane
The companion thing is useless. Even when there was no skill reward option many people declined to have fumblefingers join them. He's just bloody useless. Fumblefingers the archmage, fumblefingers the herbalist (Follows you around keeping you in good health), or fumblefang the dragon (result of an irreversable magical accident) might be worthwhile companions, but not some useless fighter type.

Hm, in my opinion, no companion is really that worthwhile. I do a lot of teleporting and zooming around the dungeon at atrocious speeds, and so anyone following me gets lost (and subsequently killed) almost instantly.
When I use pets, I usually just summon about three dozen of them and then hide in the corner while they kill everything in the area (and reduce all nearby uniques to 1 HP)
. It's cowardly, but you can't argue with results.

Hmmm...Im wondering if there is a way of keeping companions alive longer. Some aditional commands could be interesting, that way if you do have Fumblefingers on your team he wont die so quick.
Stay this command would cause a pet to wel stay. useful if you want them out of the way.
Fetch for extra mobile (flying) fire immune etc to get an object bring it back and drop it
Play Dead causes the pet to be ignored by enemies though still vunerable to area effects for a short while. Some creature types will not be fooled
just some Ideas I find FF to be a rather short lived companoin so any thing that could extend his life is cool
