Vampire Dark-elven Demonoligist...

#1 Post by Valathor »

So I started playing a Vampire Dark-elven Demonoligist... And at -50ft BD I got a princess quest to kill Smeagol...lol that quick bastard is too fast for me to hack at lv 2...

I'm guessing I should go to OC to lv up a bit then come back to fillet the SOB

What do ya'll think about this PC combo???

PC?

You're an evil elf, you summon demons, and you kill people and drink their blood. I think that's about as far from "Politically Correct" as you can get. :P

Dark-Elf Vampire sounds good for most magical combos. Not sure about Demonology as I've never tried it but it's worth a spin...

Demonologists are (in my opinion) challenging to play. They start out as underpowered warriors and end up as underpowered warriors with underpowered spells.

A vampire dark elf is not an easy race to play as a warrior. So that doesn't combine well with a demonologist. A more combat oriented race (with lots of hp) would be easier.

That doesn't mean that you shouldn't try. Often the most fun characters are hard, and you certainly get more bragging rights for a difficult win than one with a zombie rohan-knight.

I think demonologists can actually be rather powerful. A swarm of chainsummoning pet greater demons is a force to be reckoned with. Though, pets are completely incompatible with your area-of-effect spells from demonblade so you have to choose which to use at a particular time.

Demon blade is a nice damage enhancer that gets a ripple effect later on and demon field brings wide-area damage that lasts a long time. Together they make your combat capabilities much more formidable. I never found much use for demon madness though.

I agree that dark elves are more of mageish. The low hitpoints would be a problem with a demonologist.
Zothiqband -- still an Angband variant.

*rolls one up* (the character, not a fatty :P)
Seems like it could be fairly powerful if played well. I'd invest in monster lore (or do some beastmaster quests) to get XP from summon kills.

I'd definitely add in Melkor worship
1) because it makes an evil build even more evil
2) Melee cursing

EDIT: Come to think of it, the hardest part from an end-game standpoint may be finding some decent randart demon gear. I'm not a fan of Gothmog's Armoury because of the huge luck hit. You'll probably do best looking for Forbidden Libraries in dungeon towns - I've seen some very nice Demongear there.

I've played a similar build once, but not effectively. Vampire Troll Swordmaster with Demonology coming from corruptions.

As my first ever character to get through the Void, I have to give a ringing endorsement for Vampire Dark-Elf Demonologists. I just took advantage of that 0.9 Magic modifier and took Yavanna worship (after defecting from Morgoth) for a huge arsenal of useful spells.

Maximised combat mastery, Genocide, chain-summoning and a plethora of utility spells makes for a seriously munchkin character.

I stand corrected.

I'd honestly say that summoning would be your best friend... Also, I'd probably say that you'd want to take some kind of ranged attack, be it Demonology spells or a long bow, but if you've got low health, you're going to need to put some distance in between you and the baddies trying to kill you.

Then again, I haven't been playing nearly as much as I used to unfortunately. Lack of time and a PS3 will do that to you.

By the way, I'm back. Again.
And it was such a good idea...
