Random Uniques

#1 Post by Falconis »

I'm not entirely sure how this would work, but what with all the random artifacts I figured random uniques could be generated to use them :D .

A level could have a certain chance of a "randique"( :P ) being generated, the powers of which could vary according to dungeon level (with a set OODness).

This might be difficult to implement, but I think it would provide another side to ToME as well as making things more interesting.

If one wanted to, one could put in an option where on every level a "randique" was generated, which had to be killed to allow movement to the next.

I voted yes. If a leveled monster is generated with the random unique flag, those additional monster flags could be set. I can't remember what they are called exactly, SMART? INTELLIGENT? VERY SMART?

Well, there are already ego-monsters... Why not add random uniques.

It would add unpredictability to the game. (-;

That is partly the idea, it would make playing more interesting, with more surprises, especially towards the start.

...and potentially very deadly towards the start, too.

What is that hackneyed phrase? Oh yes.... 'try it in a module'. :) I voted 'Maybe'. It does sound interesting, though.
