New metaserver

We'ge got a new metaserver. One that actualyl works fine and that is not controlled by external entities.

It has been totaly rewrote from scrath to be much more flexible, allowing us to do nifty things icon_wink.gif

Anyway you need a new client, availble on http://www.tomenet.net/

i tried downlaoding the 4.00 experimental version - no joy - cannot connect to anything.

then i tried the 'daily cvs' build. this does not include all of the files needed to startup. i got it running by copying the lib/* stuff from the 4.00 kit, and renaming the .ini file from the 4.0 version to be tomenet.ini

unfortunately, when i run, it connects to metaserver, but there is only 1 4.00 server there, with nobody on it; cannot connect to other servers.

There are severl servers claiming to run version 0.7.0 (which I cannot connect to), and the 4.0 server tells me that it is all experimental and I should try a 3.something client.

Where the heck do I get a 3.X client? There's not link I can find on the www.tomenet.net site?

Will it connect to the 'new' metaserver? if not, need i connect to metaserver with 'cvs' client to find addrs, then connect with my 3.X client to a 0.7.0 server??

people seem to be able to play this game (other than myself) but I surely cannot figure out how they manage it.

Nope it only affects the metaserver code. no need to erase savefiles

I have tried everything I can think of to get it to work. I keep getting disconnected.

Yes, client and cvs. I finally manged to get on. I think the init file might be screwy. It has the host set as europe. Anyway, after I did get on with my 17th level Istari, I had no skills, i.e., couldn't cast any spells. I was a level 17, but effectively a level 1. Then I left and tried to get back on and the game kept freezing at the opening screen.

and usa2.tomenet.net will be a normal server

It was for catcarnage.com. I just tried both the chaos and usa2 servers. I can log in. My characters come up. I select one of them then another screen come up along with a packet warning. Then it just freezes up. I have no clue what I am doing wrong. I have downloaded the files at least four times and am about to just give up.

Okay, I did get it, it just took forever to get into the game. But I still have the same problem with my skill points on the 17th level character. They are non-existent.

heya all, i hav a problem, i cannot get onto the new servers.
i have downloaded the new client 4.0.0 and still get the message sayin my client wont work on the server. then i tried the cvc but i can even open that.
what do i do to get on?

The error you describe as not having the right version of the client for that server is the same problem I'm having Legolas. What did you do to solve it?

The problem is that due to technical problems the client on tomenet.net couldn't be updated yet.

Oh, and also darkgod needs a whoopin' because [we assume for the sake of having somebody to whoop for molter's fetishy delights] he put the complete source on the http://pernband.sourceforge.net site, which isn't even supposed to work now.

Of course... really, how much you wanna bet molter is to blame.

But seriously, who is the guy who so perfectly put me in a week long torment over source code with this? Not that I'm mad, but just so I know who to tease now... I'm sure molter is tired of his position.
