Hmm, if you still have the savefile and can reproduce the error, we might be able to track it down. Put the attached addon below in your addons/ folder (renamed from .zip to .teaa, of course) and edit it into the savefile's desc.lua (the tag for the addon is 'ui_harden'). The addon overloads Minimalist:handleEffects() to catch and handle errors from temporary effect descriptions. If you can reproduce the offending temporary effect, its icon should get a blue border in the buffs display (I was going to use red, but the game already uses that for detrimental effects), and the effect's description will be the error message.Thexare wrote:Was on release, specifically testing nsrr's Stalker. I don't think it was anything in that though, with how long it took to happen.

Unfortunately I don't have it anymore, I reloaded and avoided that tree since the main focus was testing Stalker., and then I died Would it work to just keep running that addon in case it pops up again later?

I think so, yes. I haven't done extensive testing with it, but so far it hasn't caused any errors on it own, and I don't think it will have any other significant side effects, so it should be safe to use in general. (It's not suitable for use on the beta, though, as the beta makes its own changes to the method that this addon overloads.)Thexare wrote:Would it work to just keep running that addon in case it pops up again later?

Notes to Self request
I didn't see an individual topic for "Notes to Self", so I thought I'd post here:
I'd like to request an option for Notes to Self, to disable the notes from automatically popping up when a character logs in. I want to get playing asap, and not have to dismiss all the various login popup windows/prompts.

Yeah, I never did get around to starting a thread for that one.Sinister Stairs wrote:I didn't see an individual topic for "Notes to Self", so I thought I'd post here:
I'd say "what's the point without the popup?", but on reflection, I can see how a way of collecting notes in-game could be useful. Easy enough to add; that'll be in the upcoming release for 1.7.Sinister Stairs wrote:I'd like to request an option for Notes to Self, to disable the notes from automatically popping up when a character logs in. Yeah, I use it to make notes of things like Occult Egress codes, or remember which zone level has dangerous vaults/rares I should avoid; so I don't need the notes popping up every time I login, I just refer to them when I'm in the appropriate zones.
For notes I want to remember when I'm logging in, I use the savegame notes which appear on the Load Game screen.

Re: [v1.0.0-1.1.0+] ZOmnibus Addon Pack/ZOmnibus Lite
Holy. Mother. Farking. Carp.
*pant* *wheeze* Okay, I'll start with a couple cumulative announcements here for all my stuff:
But the part you're more interested in is the newly included addons. To both ZOmnibus and ZOmnibus Lite we add:

- First, all of my addons (or at least all that needed it) now make at least an attempt at using the 1.7 engine's new localization support, which I hope will make it feasible (or at least easier) to make translations for them into other languages. I won't be making separate announcements for all of them, because by my count that would blow literally everyone else off the entire first page and half the second, and would probably trip a spam alert somewhere in the forum software.
A fair number of addons had small changes that I haven't posted here about; if in doubt, check the addon's change log. We Apologize for the Inconvenience.™
- Second, as suggested above, all of the component addons of ZOmnibus, whether used separately or via ZOmnibus/Lite, now place all their game options under a new tab "[ZOmnibus]" on the Game Options dialog. I should have the FAQ page of ZOmnibus game options updated to reflect this by the time you see this.
But the part you're more interested in is the newly included addons. To both ZOmnibus and ZOmnibus Lite we add:
- Curse Levels
- Displacement Tracking
- Examine Floor Stack
- Verbose Crystal Resonance
- Golem Gender
- Self-Portrait Over Grass
- Semi-Roguelike Mode
- Menu Keys
- Reflected Golem
- Roguelike Keybindings
- Tooltip Cleanup
- Time Shield Tracking
- Alchemist Notifications
- Don't Summon While Meditating
- Herald of the Herald
- Roguelike Chat Guard
- Sword-n-Boardin'
- Plot Disarming
- "Show power of cursed auras": disabled/enabled
- "Visual tracking of Displacement Shield": enabled
- "Semi-roguelike achievements": disabled/enabled
- "Roguelike keybindings": uninstalled
- "Clear tooltips on focus change": enabled
- "Visual tracking of Time Shield": enabled
- "Alchemist potion notifications": disabled/enabled
- "Confirm summons while meditating": disabled/enabled
- "Visual Nihil stack markers": disabled/enabled
- "Avoid movement chars in chat dialogs": None/Some
- "No hotkeys in chat dialogs": disabled
- "Open talent point planner on character creation": false

Thanks for all your hard work!
Looking through your 1.7 release notes I realized how many TOME options that I took for granted as game features were actually ZOmnibus (or, more specifically, Zizzo) addons (e.g. Prodigious Progress).

Getting some blinking blackscreens, the error cites zOmnibus. Happened when loading an AoA save and starting a new game in Embers, using the new UI skins (Spectre Basalt, specifically)
Only addons I'm using are those that've been updated for 1.7, plus Steamshaper since that class is just using existing talents.

Re: [v1.0.0-1.1.0+] ZOmnibus Addon Pack/ZOmnibus Lite
Having the exact same error as @Thexare. I created a new Drem Necromancer and after the initial stat/talent selection screen: I get the "Welcome to Tales of Maj'Eyal - Forbidden Cults" new character introduction; with no way to dismiss the intro window, no game UI other than the map (no mini-map, no toolbar, no status bars), no way to get the game menu to pop up, and the game/character wasn't saved after force-quitting.
Re: [v1.0.0-1.1.0+] ZOmnibus Addon Pack/ZOmnibus Lite
I also get this bug. It does not happen with every character. I found two ways to trigger it. First, having "die on -x life". Equipping any item, or being a necromancer, will cause hanging game with a black screen or blinking black screen. Also, drinking the new blood of undeath will cause the same, but I don't know what it does, so no idea if it is the same bug or a different one.
Re: [v1.0.0-1.1.0+] ZOmnibus Addon Pack/ZOmnibus Lite
- Display bug:
the -- Alchemist Notifications-- heading is there twice.
- I also think all single option addons are better grouped together, moved to bottom, under heading -- Single Option Addons -- and list all of them on right page, then all the options under. It will make much better UX.
- Pragmatic Heroism second option is IMO not needed, as it now like always enabled by the 1.7.0. changes, and disabling it doesn't work.
Re: [v1.0.0-1.1.0+] ZOmnibus Addon Pack/ZOmnibus Lite
Can confirm the "Die at negative life" bug. From another thread:
Can confirm that this did fix it, and then after equipping the item successfully, turning the option back on caused the same immediate crash.Moasseman wrote:Zomnibus issue - Turn off Combined lifebar in Zomnibus and issue goes away

Re: [v1.0.0-1.1.0+] ZOmnibus Addon Pack/ZOmnibus Lite
[sound F/X: source diving] … *blink* That… cannot possibly have worked. I know I had test characters with negative die-at; how did I not trip that? Anyway, that should be fixed in the hastily pushed out v17a for both. We Apologize for the Inconvenience.™Thexare wrote:Getting some blinking blackscreens, the error cites zOmnibus. Stupid copy/paste error. Also fixed, along with unrelated bugs in Opt-in Adventurers Parties and Talent Point Planner.Row wrote:1. Display bug:
Well, the options page also has to work when using the addons standalone; I'm not sure if that level of coordination could be managed.Row wrote:2. I left the option in because the Classic UI's life bar doesn't have the combined display in the base game. And I just tested with the "Combined life bar" option disabled, and the old-style black negative life bar still appears to work (unless that's one of the bugs I just fixed in this release…).Row wrote:Pragmatic Heroism second option is IMO not needed, as it now like always enabled by the 1.7.0. changes, and disabling it doesn't work.

And hot on the heels of that, v17a.1 for both, with another fix for Talent Point Planner.
