Necro Minion Inventory Transfer

I transferred Hornet Stingers to a Lord of Skulls (archer) and inspected him, but he was still using plain ash arrows. I tried standing next to him and waiting to see if he would switch, but he didn't. I then transferred some simple arrows of self-loading after making sure to move them from my transmogrification chest to normal inventory, but still couldn't get him to equip them. So, it seems like minions won't equip gifted items no matter what, but don't think the option should be presented to transfer equipment to party members who won't use them.
