I've got a run that's been encountering lots of lua errors on load, and it seems that at some point that screwed up the "unharmed_attack_on_hit" [sic] count. Either that, or there's some other reason that Flexible Combat is not proc'ing.
Is there a way to fix that without either flagging the run as a cheater or opening up the savefile with an unzipping tool and searching for that string?

Not sure how actively managed this is but you can always try submitting a ticket to the Save Fixing Emporium (TM).
It's often easiest to just catch one of the devs or mods in in-game chat and ask them there to take a look at it, but that might take a while.

I just gave up and edited the save myself.
