1.5.5 Buffed Alchemist (Talent Revision)

Re: 1.5.5 Buffed Alchemist (Talent Revision)
Bug: Adventurers do not get the revised channel staff talent even when taking the revised staff combat tree. As far as I can determine, Alchemists get the talent because they are assigned a point in the talent at birth. I just tested the gameplay option disabling auto assign talents at birth and confirmed that Alchemists do not get the channel staff talent with this option disabled.
Re: 1.5.5 Buffed Alchemist (Talent Revision)
One other minor bug. If you hover over the Jeweled Armor talent without an alchemist gem equipped you get an error message. The bug does not crash the game. I think there is a problem in the talent description parameters.
I guess I should provide positive feedback as well
. I like the addon (otherwise I probably wouldn't bother to make bug reports). I go back and forth between this and the revamped alchemist addon when playing the class. I like how the revamped alchemist infusions add to damage for both bombs and channel staff, and that you can sustain more than one. However, I like your jewelcraft tree and the convenience factor of not having to micro manage ammunition.
Thanks for your work on this.

Re: 1.5.5 Buffed Alchemist (Talent Revision)
I've been away from Tome for about a year. 1.6 brought me back and when playing alchemist I remembered this add-on and decided to take another look at it. I'm more experienced at playing the game and have a better idea of balance, so I've changed a lot of numbers around. The class should still be stronger than base alchemist, but less ridiculously so. If you run into an enemy alchemist, it can still have one of the strongest nukes in the game, but no longer so ridiculously so (at most they should only have 20% or so higher damage than a freeze, and this is unlikely as they'd have to be very well geared) .
As far as it goes, I need to take a look at the last few bugs mentioned and try to figure out how to fix them (the adventurer one is going to require me to change how the talent is learned - at learning skill tree rather than at birth).
But I've done some changes to fix the worst bugs and to make the class feel more in line with vanilla classes:
Smoke bomb changes removed. The talent was unusable (threw Lua errors).
Increased lower end of bomb damage, but greatly reduced upper end. This should let it scale more sanely with alchemist gems throughout the game.
The tool tip now displays the correct damage amount on throw bomb when infusions are active (same for contained explosion)
Contained explosion deals less damage and no longer reduces in mana with levels. It does reduce in CD, though.
Refit golem now requires 4 resting turns rather than 1
Body of Fire damage reduced

Re: 1.5.5 Buffed Alchemist (Talent Revision)
I've fixed the mentioned bugs and made the following changes:
For some reason steam isn't letting me upload it though.
Code: Select all
0.9.1
Throw bomb CD decreased to 2. At talent level 6, it goes to 1, and at talent level 7, it goes to 0.
To compensate, mana cost increased to 30, and Explosion Expert mana penalty also increased.
A very minor increase on the contribution from gems to bomb damage (currently t3 gems give a bit more than I want and t5 a bit less than I want)
Defensive posture no longer affects hardiness, instead only increases the base values given from vanilla for defense and armor somewhat.
Bug fixes (channel staff is now innate to staff-combat tree rather than learned at birth)
Jeweled armor takes bomb power % increases from gems into account for its values (diamonds now give best value but no bonuses)
Jeweled armor CD decreased from 20 to 18, and duration cap increased from 9 to 10.
Reduced arcane resist % on jeweled armor (now 7% rather than 20% per level)
Survival tree unlocked at birth (to somewhat offset the lack of utility spells)
Channel staff now only costs 1 mana
Re: 1.5.5 Buffed Alchemist (Talent Revision)
Hello and good day.
Was just checking around for interesting addons, and I found this nice thingy. It would be very nice to be able to play a decent alchemist, but is this compatible with the arcanum class pack? I wouldn't like to give up on it.

Re: 1.5.5 Buffed Alchemist (Talent Revision)
It claims to be, but it hasn't been updated since the Staff Combat revisions that just got added to Arcanum.
Should the changes clash in a bad way, there is a switch in Arcanum to disable the Staff Combat changes.

My feedback meter decays into coding. Give me feedback and I make mods.
Re: 1.5.5 Buffed Alchemist (Talent Revision)
Just did an arena run, it works.
Staff Combat clashes a tiny bit (you get two talents in the category from learning the first talent, so unlocking the third and fourth talent becomes easier), and the Arcanum changes get mostly overwritten otherwise.
The only problem is that Poison Infusion (and probably Metal Infusion) from Arcanum don't work anymore.

Update: This plus Arcanum means no alchemist quest at all if you have the alchemist question form Arcanum enabled.
