Severe lag in 1.6

Hello all - jumped back into the game in version 1.6. I've having the game experience severe lag on me regularly (playing a summoner). No mods, no funny business. It hangs for up to 10 seconds before responding again. This makes the game basically unplayable (and deadly, for a roguelike). Do I need to play offline, or is this a known problem with a known workaround?

Hum, do you mean in some specific levels or anywhere, always ?
If it's the later this has to be an opengl driver regression I'd say.
Can you try 1.5 on the same computer please?

Thanks - it's still there (but less severe) in 1.5.10. Do I need to uninstall / reinstall?

If it's a permanent lag (even somewhat on the main menu) then you need to check the opengl (video) drivers for your computer; it's highly likely they are somehow borked yes :/
