for 1 turn the bloated ooze has a max life of 1hp, and it's lifebar becomes huge.

That's what happens when you have "disease when hit" items and low hp mobs hit you in melee
It kills their CON and get them to like 50/1 hp

Probably wouldn't hurt for there to be some sanity check to see if life > max life and only display a 100% bar instead of a 5000% or w/e bar.
