Regarding GoG

#1 Post by Nakarai »

I was wondering how purchasing DLC through GoG would work as I own previous DLC through "donations" (Voratun Coins). I would generally prefer to get current and future DLC through a platform like GoG as it makes downloading simpler and skips all the donator shenanigans. (I wasn't aware GoG was an option when I originally got the TE4 DLC, ~4 years ago.)

Should work just fine :)

I'm even worse: I've unlocked donator features, paid for dlc's on steam, and now want to purchase forbidden cults as I want to support gog.

Will it work with everything I've previously purchased regardless of where it was purchased?
Will it mean I can't launch from steam if I want forbidden cults to be enabled?

As an aside, will GOG have a "buy it all" pack? Being able to buy all the content in one shot is nice for gifting! :?

If you're redeeming the keys like you should, there will be no problem either way.

I went from GOG to the main site and have no problems whatsoever.

Apparently you can't purchase DLC's via GOG unless you also own the base "tales of majeyal" game on GOG.

I suppose purchasing the new DLC is not possible on GOG if you purchased the base game elsewhere. I have to over my credit card information to Paypal or send more money to Valve.

Yeah its somewhat strange on platforms like GoG and Steam because the base game is technically free on te4.org (if I remember right, its ~60 Vorotun coins to 'own' it). Not that I mind giving an extra 2 bucks to use GoG.

So for those curious, buying through GoG lets you redeem keys on te4.org. This nets you enough Vorotun coins to unlock the DLC through the te4.org version OR through the GoG version. You can also download the DLC from GoG and install that way. I haven't found a way to download the other DLC installers through GoG but you can download them though the client as normal if you own them in your te4 account. Going through GoG does give the nice bonus of having a different version that can have a different set of addons active without having to micro-manage them. I assume Steam does this as well.

TLDR: Not sure if GoG really makes this any easier if you already have keys through te4.org.

Edit: Sorry for double post.
Also: Sadly you can not have both GoG and te4.org versions running at the same time :(

I'm going to buy the game again (Gog this time) and the DLC, then "unlock" the dlc on te4.org.

Thank you Nakarai for your helpful posts.

EDIT: I can't for the life of me figure out how to generate or redeem a key using GOG that could be redeemed on te4.org. Anyone know how to do it?

@User512:

In your GoG library click on Tome4 (Tales of Maj'Eyal 4). You should see the download link(s) come up, if you look just above it you will see "download" and another near it that says "keys" or something. Copy the key and head over to te4.org, login or create an account and then look to the left and under "Donate!" you'll see "Key Redeem". Alternatively, head here https://te4.org/key-redeem and paste the keys.

Edit: Specifically, in the GoG library, clicking on "Tales of Maj'Eyal" brings up the download links. At the top you will see "try GoG Galaxy", right next of it is "More". Click "More" and then "Serial Keys".

I didn't have time to look up exactly what the page looked like before so mb.

Nakarai, thank you again. You helped me figure it out 8). When your instructions didn't match up with my GOG interface, I realised what was going on.

The trick is to not use GoG Galaxy, which is what I was doing. Keys can only be sourced through the main gog.com website!
