Make the East Less Terrible

#1 Post by San0ix »

I'd love to see the prides' size, as well as having the amount of trash mobs inside them, significantly reduced and the vaults moved to other areas (like high peak) to remove the abysmal lag issues you usually get.

Prides down to two floors, vaults stay as is though.

Doesn't change anything. The levels are still laggy as hell then. That's what makes playing through them so painful

They aren't laggy for me. Maybe you need a better PC.

Have you been Dreamscaped recently, San0ix? That might also be the issue with your saves taking a long time.

Nope, always happens, even if the character has not gotten dreamscaped

Literally has nothing to do with pc power. The lag issues are due to severe memory loss (due to so many actors getting killed). You probably don't get the issue because you don't play one character from start to finish on one or two sittings

Then restart the game slightly more often lol

That also doesn't seem to work for some reason. Why is it such a big problem to deal with the issue head on, instead of looking for work arounds that don't even work most of the time

I kind of disagree here. If there is a memory issue, we should tackle that, not just make areas smaller.

I haven't ran into an issue like this, but I'm against the idea of reducing the sizes. However, I would definitely be up for making the prides more unique.

The npcs in vaults are frozen and not processed at all until vault is open, this shouldnt cause lag.
Not saying the game doesnt have some memory loss, it certainly does though it's hard to pinpoint, but it cant be the source of instantlag when you enter the Prides if this is indeed what you experience.

So when exactly does this happen for you? as soon as you enter a pride? does it go away when you leave the pride? does it happen anywhere else? (high peak & dreadfell would come to mind)

Yes, it pretty much happens as soon as I enter a pride, and for as long as I am in that pride; High Peak for example is not affected at all, even if I go straight from the prides to High Peak.
I'd say the worst pride by far is the dragon/antimagic one, probably because of all the dragons.

https://www.twitch.tv/videos/143865863?t=02h06m46s this is some footage of the prides how I experience them - you can see how unresponsive the inputs can be, even though I pretty much mash buttons all the time and how long rests/auto-explore takes (both should normally take no time at all because I use faster rra set to speed everything up 30 times)

Interresting, and you're saying it does happen in a vault heavy high peak or dreadfell ?
It's rather strange, the prides dont have much more NPCs than other levels. Hum.
What about Briargh's Lair ?

I also feel like the Prides give significant lag. Sometimes it can be as bad as 1s delay between command and action. Eruan can be like this as well.
