My character was killed by a snake that I had just teleported away from. I wanted to see whether the snake had somehow teleported as well, or what--it didn't make sense that its short-range attack had reached me. But I couldn't see because the giant death menu was in the way and I couldn't find a way to dismiss it or hide it without leaving my finished game altogether.
You really should be able to see the map and the remaining nearby enemies after you die...
Is it possible to see behind the death menu?

It's possible that your character died due to poisoning.

Re: Is it possible to see behind the death menu?
The log seemed to indicate that the named snake I was fleeing from used a melee-range attack, which caused the death... I think. But the teleportation away from the snake also definitely succeeded.
Regardless, I really should have been able to see the scene after the death. There's no reason to conceal that; the menu box is just arbitrarily modal and unhideable (as far as I know anyway).
I'm a bit curious about how the death occurred but I can't even ask a good question about it because I was prevented from seeing much of what actually happened.

Maybe the snake used an instant teleport (temporal warden has one), or had more speed from you and a normal one then attacked.
