Could use some advice on oozemancer

#1 Post by martinuzz »

I'm trying an oozemancer tank (CON) build. I got disarm from a loremaster at char level 1, disarmed Prox and Bill, and thought 'let's for fun and giggles try and make an oozemancer that doesn't care too much about being in melee range.

I just arrived in the Far East, took out a few orc patrols, and am now clearing Ardhungol. I've got a category point to spend, since I just reached level 36, but I'm unsure whether I should take the Harmony tree (at 1.00 proficiency), or the Eyal's Fury tree (at 1.30 proficiency).
The only life I lost so far was due to me forgetting to level lock the Necromancer's Crypt, and being very careless near that level 36 Heavy Bone Giant, at char level 22. I did go back in later to see if I could beat it (still at level 22), but after a 45 minute stalemate of me getting it down to about 8% before it healed up again, I postponed that battle until after I had cleared Dreadfell (I really shouldn't have died to it in the first place, overconfidence induced carelesness yaddayadda). There have been no other moments so far that even saw me get close to dying. Oozemancer tanks well.

I did a WIL/CUN/CON Zigur Antimagic build, and went with Spine of the World as a first prodigy.
The disarm I got from the worries loremaster is surprisingly helpful, for when the Acidbeam doesn't disarm mobs. Mindstar Mastery's bonus to physical power makes it nearly always succesful.
I initially thought that wielding Thermal and Charged Focus would not be the best idea for an oozemancer (waste of nature / acid penetration), but that Prismatic Maelstrom activation is just too juicy to forego.

But I'm not sure now. Is being able to remove buffs from mobs (Acidfire), and the increased dps worth forgoing the healing synergies from the Harmony Tree? Are Spine of the World, Oozewalk, Indomitable, Nature's Defense, and Relentless Pursuit enough to keep debuffs on me reasonably under control, or do I really need the Harmony tree for that once I get to the serious business?

I'd strongly recommend Eyal's Fury. Oozemancers are already super tanky and, in my experience, really need some additional DPS.

Cool, thanks for confirming what I was leaning towards. Eyal's Fury it is!
