Enemy leveling

#1 Post by Shimas »

Hi, I have a dumb question :D

So I've been dying a lot, and couldn't get past the “into the darkness quest“. Then I decided to try to level up more in the easier zones near other towns before moving on to it. But now as I go to one of those zones in level 15 (instead of the suggested 7), I encounter rare enemies of 35 level, which can kill in one hit. Is that a penalty of having a too high level?

Thanks

Sounds like you might possibly be doing things out of order. Take a look at this guide: http://te4.org/wiki/Recommended_Zone_Order_Progression

Figure out what the tier 1 dungeons are, and do all of them first. Then go for the tier 2 dungeons, and so on.

Yes enemies do level as you do, but there is more to the difficulty than just raw level number.
By getting yourself to a higher level before doing those harder zones, you get yourself a bigger suite of survival tools to use.

Yeah, zones scale within a certain range based on what level you are when you enter them, but in general the same enemy will usually be easier if you are both a higher level. You should do all 6 starting zones which are available to anyone before moving on. As for that level 35 enemy, sometimes you get enemies much harder than the rest of the zone.

yes. i believe they are called "out of depth" monsters.
some monsters have a certain minimal level, and cannot scale down below it.

like the dreaded lvl30 naga "- you" myrmidon appearing in a dungeon, when you aren't even lvl15
