I've been wearing the Black Plate, and decided to start using its on use ability. It says:
"Each time the source creature takes damage, the victim takes 73% of the damage."
It sounds as though if I use it on myself as the source, and an enemy as the victim, they take 73% of the damage they do to me. But, when I try to set myself as the source I get a warning message asking me if I really want to do that.
I've learned to respect TOME warning messages. Is there something I'm missing? Or is it something I can ignore?
Thanks.
Is using Link of Pain on yourself a bad idea?

Wouldn't it have been quicker to just try it???
Anyway, ToME defaults to warning if you try to target yourself with anything.

My feedback meter decays into coding. Give me feedback and I make mods.

I could have tried it, but I generally try to not risk killing my tome guys off.

But SCIENCE!

I believe this works as you stated, acting as a damage reflection effect. Best to confirm by trying it on a very weak trash mob.
Re: Is using Link of Pain on yourself a bad idea?
If you make yourself the source and not the other way round yes, it will damage the other whenever it hits you. Note that it counts as a detrimental effect so things like providence will remove it though.
