I'm asking this mostly out of curiosity because I don't know a thing about game development, but also out of annoyance - why has there been no patch in so long?
I know darkgod was on vacation for some time, but why did we not get a patch with the bug fixes that were done by then? What's the point behind holding back on releasing fixes and already finished content?

Because the next patch is a major version and it's not ready yet
DG likes to release substantial patches.
And we had a small bugfix patch literally 2 days ago.

I'd (and I know of a bunch of other people) much prefer more frequent, smaller updates than one huge update. For example the first Halfling racial not working on steampowers was fixed in June (according to darkgod), yet that fix has not been added to the main client.Sheila wrote:DG likes to release substantial patches.

Also, that patch literally didn't include any game-affecting fixes.

last time i checked, launcher was laggy as f***, and completely unusable, so i have to move things manually.
so, i sort of appreciate not having to do that for every single small thing.

Nobody forces you to update the client you play on. If it's "such a big deal", then just wait a few patches. Your point makes literally no sense - either you don't update and then you've got what you've got right now, or you do and then you've got a better, not so stagnant experienceRadon26 wrote:last time i checked, launcher was laggy as f***, and completely unusable, so i have to move things manually.

Re: What are we waiting for? Changes Held Hostage?
As other have said, major releases contain much stuff. I try to keep patch releases in sync with fixes of the main branch but sometimes I:
- deem them too potentially dangerous to risk breaking saves
- deem them too untested
- forget
As for frequent releases; the process is very cumbersome, both for me, players, stores. Nothing prevents you from trying the master branch on git though; hell I love that as I can get testing on stuff not released yet

[tome] joylove: You can't just release an expansion like one would release a Kraken XD

Re: What are we waiting for? Changes Held Hostage?
Cold we maybe get a summary of majorish changes\additions coming with 1.5, for those of us too lazy\stupid to look through git?
Re: What are we waiting for? Changes Held Hostage?
I'm pretty sure that is how the change list is made.
My feedback meter decays into coding. Give me feedback and I make mods.

You'll get it when it's time.
