I think this may happen after dying and choosing to restart with the same character. I was playing a drake, and got careless in the initial confrontation. Let myself die and restarted the same character. Next run I was ambushed by an AK patrol before I made it to Derth. I restarted once more. Next run I made it to Derth... but the event did not trigger. After roasting all the halflings, I let myself die again so I could restart, this time intending to test this specifically. Same result upon reaching Derth. Restarted with a new character, made it to Derth, all was as it should be.

Edit: I should probably note that on each of these runs I went straight from the initial confrontation to Derth, without entering the Summoner's Grove and talking to him... because I only realized that was something I should be doing very late last night, and I forgot about it this morning :lol:

$$$ <-- "Restart with Same Character" broke once for me. Can anyone else reproduce this...?
I think this may happen after dying and choosing to restart with the same character.

BAM! Got it. You nailed it right on the head. I can reproduce the error with ease now, so you will see a patch for this VERY soon~~ :D


I also discovered a new problem while testing this-- "Raise Drakeling" isn't correctly producing the new Drakeling. I actually already knew about this CRITICAL error and never remembered to fix it. So sorry about this guys :(


Oh, one more thing--
The "plot" for OoTS is VERY MALLEABLE. I recommend you try every permutation you can think of. In fact, if you "avoid" The Summoner, you might just start getting on his "bad" side... :wink:

If you really wanted to, you could just start a separate thread in the spoiler section for Odyssey of The Summoner. People did the same for EoR (or one guy did, I should say).

"Odyssey of The Summoner" has been updated!! (Version 0.1.3)

*** Version: 0.1.3 ~ "Now with more love for reincarnation (both you and Drakelings)"
- Corrected a critical bug that occurred if a player selected "Restart With The Same Character" as an Avatar. This prevented the "OoTS" flag from activating, which in turn disabled ALL "OoTS" events (such as the "Derth truce" event, or the "Heart of Gloom madness" event). The way this flag is triggered has been changed, allowing you to restart characters with no further issues.
*** Notice: For those who have already encountered this error and played on despite the lack of events, you can fix the problem by putting this into the console:

game.state.neka_mode = "summoned"
- Corrected a critical issue that caused "Raise Drakeling" to fail in the middle of creating a Drakeling, producing a walking error-machine.
- Initial dependency for new Drakelings (excluding the unique ones) is slightly lower (this means they won't like you quite as much to start with)
- Shared EXP will no longer pop up for 0 EXP gains.
- Corrected the misdisplayed encumbrance value when upchucking certain objects.
- Corrected a bug where "Consume" would eat an entire stack of an object instead of just one. This, in turn, caused the upchucked object to return as only one object (which sucks).

(PS: I'm starting to understand why Dark Souls developers are so vague in their patch notes. It prevents people from knowing exactly what things are broken so they can't revert their version and mess with it xP )

Most of this is copy-paste from my comment on the add-ons page because I didn't know there actually was a forum thread.

This add-on seems very ambitious, and I can tell it's a labor of love. I really want to get to enjoy it but it keeps either giving me an error message -- that I sent, but doesn't seem to refer to any other add-ons -- when I reach the "Expendable?" dialogue (and does so each time I dismiss the error message) or, if I reach the main map, it places me in the far upper left corner, right in the middle of the ocean, where I can't move or do anything. I do have other add-ons (you can see them on my "Oddy Test" character in the vault) but none of them seem to be of the sort that would cause this. (Edit: I've pared the add-ons down even more in my Oddy Test 2 character, at http://te4.org/characters/8530/tome/7cc ... 15adba5a25 As you can see, most of the other add-ons are basically convenience add-ons, an none of them appear to be a problem. The message I get when appearing on the world map references summoning but that's the only thing that I recognize.)

Just so we're clear, I really do admire what I've seen and absolutely want to explore it further. If it's just an add-on that's causing the problem, I don't mind turning it off. But some add-ons I'm used to because of their convenience and would rather not turn them *all* off. (Though turning off the Multi-Class challenge was like a staged intervention, i.e. probably a good thing. That add-on is brutal in mid-game and I can't seem to rid myself of my addiction to it.)

Edit: After much trial and error, i.e. systematically creating new characters, running the opening quest, then removing one random add-on and creating a new character, I've determined that it's the Extra Dungeons add-on that seems to be placing me in the middle of the ocean on the world map. Guess I'll have to rid myself of my compulsive need to do every possible dungeon and area, but I hope that helps you refine your add-on. Still don't know what's causing it to crash after the "Expendable" dialogue, but it's none of the ones as of this character: http://te4.org/characters/8530/tome/6bf ... 2b8fd5da05. I'm going to add back a few more favored add-ons and see if the bug re-occurs.

I should probably place a big disclaimer-- This is NOT a full version of the add-on. It is Version 0.1.3 currently-- As in, not a full release :?

Also, about your problems... This add-on overloads (not superloads) "data/zones/wilderness/grids.lua", as well as "data/maps/wilderness/eyal.lua". Because your character ended up at the top-left of the map when the error fired, there is a STRONG possibility another add-on has taken priority over mine and overloaded my changes to the wilderness. :?

I have looked long and hard to find a way of making "cooperative" changes to the wilderness's map/grid files, but it has ALWAYS been to no avail. As such, I HIGHLY recommend you activate as little add-ons as possible when playing this-- For the sake of allowing me to provide a more "predictable" experience, if anything. :D

... Finally-- Have you updated to the latest version? Sounds like you're experiencing a lot of the old errors I already patched out! :lol:

I did an edit to my above post. It was the Extra Dungeons. In retrospect, that seemed like a blindingly obvious choice to check first. Now I'm in Trollmire and burning things up. So far, so good.

And, yeah, the original comment was made after the second version. It may be that the "Expendable" problem is actually fixed rather than a product of one of the add-ons I turned off.

I suggest you check out my More Tales addon before you burn in hell eternally... :mrgreen:

Took a quick look at your solution... Interesting...! VERY INTERESTING!! INGENIOUS~!!!
If this does, indeed, allow me to "Superload" wilderness grids and the like, "OoTS" will become SIGNIFICANTLY more compatible with many add-ons... :D


... Now I just need a way to "superload" the "quickSwitchWeapons()" logic and the default damage projector, and there will be no overloaded behavior whatsoever :lol:

Hey I quickly playtested it and reviewed the code: well done!
It looks very nice and complex and you managed to make some rather good code, overloading is at minimum (and yes do follow HousePet example for the wilderness).

Congrats! I'm happy to see an addon of this magnitude!

I assume this is a bug/unintended effect: if you have the Birth Weakness debuff as a firedrake you cannot leave a town (e.g. Derth) via the exit once you enter. Message when attempting to use the worldmap exit is "You cannot go into the wilds with the following effects: Birth Weakness"
You CAN still use the Rod of Recall to get to the worldmap though.

- A solution provided by "HousePet" and his "More Tales" add-on. The wilderness is no longer being overloaded, and thusly, "OoTS" should now be compatible with add-ons that convert/transform the Wilderness. Props to you good sir for this solution! (:D)
- Gave pseudo-superloaded behavior to the "quickSwitchWeapons()" function. It will now ONLY overwrite quick-swap behavior if the current character is an Avatar, which should allow functionality from other add-ons to pass through normally.
- The "Birth Weakness" effect will no longer prevent you from entering the world map. AAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHH!!!
- Corrected a quest error after completing Dreadfell.
- "Rebelling" is now a beneficial effect (don't ask)
- Drakelings SHOULD no longer emote when they aren't present (what the...)

This doesn't seem to be working. After the update, I get errors when trying to use the off set. This error is from a Ritch run, but I got the same error when trying out a Serpent Oozemancer (since I was curious to see how things worked if I chose a Wilder class instead of an Avatar).

First error is from pressing "Off Set" in the inventory pane. Second error is from trying to quick swap with 'q'.
