In my addons I've got Ritual Blades and Sceptres as one handed mage items.
Sceptres are a mace with less damage but also grants spellpower.
Egos tend to involve adding radius 1 burst damage to attacks and on weapon hit do spell effects.
Ritual Blades are knives with less damage but also grants spell crit.
Egos tend to involve inflicting debuffs on weapon crits or casting spells on spell hits.

My feedback meter decays into coding. Give me feedback and I make mods.
Re: Short staff balacing
I've been working on an addon to make short staves their own item type, with a) less powers on the base item and b) less chance for egos on them. This seems to be a reasonable solution.
If I ever get that done I'll let you all know

These are super cool. Might be too drastic of changes but I like the concepts a lot. Makes for dual-wielding mage awesomeness.HousePet wrote:In my addons I've got Ritual Blades and Sceptres as one handed mage items.

Re: Short staff balacing
I finished my addon. Splits out 1h-staves into their own item and nerfs their power to account for other handed use.

Are you serious or trolling? 2h Arcane Blades are already obsolete, staff or not. 2h is the absolute worst choice for AB, either dual wield or use a shield.0player wrote:80%Mag/40%Str is a great way to make two-handed non-staff arcane blades completely obsolete. Likewise, changing the melee damage.
You pump Mag, you set your staff to Fire, you get some equip fro +fire%. Boom. You now do a shit ton of damage.
Multihits naturally work better with procs, IE arcane combat, arcane destruction, and flexible combat. Also fun fact, generic 2h talents don't even work properly with flex.
My problem with Short staves is that they're currently flat out better on classes like AB/Reaver than 1h weapons, I dislike this and it's also not really intended.
I think we need to chunk the acc bonus hard and give them like 90%/100% mag, 80% makes little sense to me since they already have like half or less the base power of other weapons to begin with. Maybe make it an item type so you can build with them more reliably, but weaker enough so that they're not a rule of thumb better compared to 1h. I think being basically gimped for not building a rare item is a really crappy situation.

If you want to make two-handed staffs equal to two-handed weapons in Arcane blade hands then all other staff-whacking builds are absolute shit. If this is your goal then OK0player wrote:80%Mag/40%Str is a great way to make two-handed non-staff arcane blades completely obsolete. Likewise, changing the melee damage.

Re: Short staff balacing
Sheila is correct. If staves used 0% Magic they'd still be great on Arcane Blades. Nonstaff builds are ridiculously bad compared to staff builds.0player wrote:Note the "completely" >_>.Sheila wrote:Are you serious or trolling? 2h Arcane Blades are already obsolete, staff or not. 2h is the absolute worst choice for AB, either dual wield or use a shield.0player wrote:80%Mag/40%Str is a great way to make two-handed non-staff arcane blades completely obsolete. Edit: Weapon damage barely matters, AB is all about procs. It's the proc damage accuracy bonus that makes staves so appealing.
