Defending against Spyrdic Poison
I've always found this the most noticeable of the poisons, since it tends to always get a really long 'you're stuck' period, and being stuck is a dangerous place to be.
I'm curious what options there are though to really defend against it. It, like most status effects, will hit even if the attack does no damage. I'm vaguely suspecting that most usages of it count as 'spells' so don't do an accuracy vs defense calculation. They're usually fast enough that dodging isn't a huge option (though it's the most common working defense I can see).
When slimes use it, it seems to always take effect and also take effect for large numbers of turns (7 being the most common), even if they've got a 20 or more point difference in their best Power vs my best Save. It never says 'so and so save reduced the duration' so I'm guessing that saves don't affect its duration?
Pinning resistance of 100 doesn't stop it from keeping you pinned (boo), though unflinching resolve will treat it as a pin and recover from it (inconsistent), making it the second best defense (if you can't dodge the slime projectile at all, at least it is limited to 2-3 turns instead of 7).
Any ideas? I do notice the rod of spyrdic poison also has sort of the same story going on with it. Consistent high value hits regardless of difference between player and enemy, various protections don't work, so it can always be used to halt a melee boss or rare for a good long wait (while doing damage).
I'm dense, poison immunity is also a thing so that's probably it. Though its kind of weird if that's the only thing that even slows it down.

Re: Defending against Spyrdic Poison
vitality has x% chance to remove poison each turn.
waters of life turns poison and disease damage to healing.
its technically a physical status effect so any stat removal of the kind should work
also, undead have a poison immunity.
...
if its a pin or slow, shouldn't the appropriate resist also apply there like it does to the burny stun effect?

Re: Defending against Spyrdic Poison
Vitality reduces duration, it's not a chance to cleanse. That's unflinching resolve, which doesn't hit poisons.

for the relevant calculation.
To guarantee immunity, you need your save to surpass their power by 20 points, ensuring a 100% duration reduction no matter when the Power vs Save roll ends up being.
This message shows when your save rolled low enough that it didn't reduce the duration at all. You'll need higher Phys save (pretty sure spydric is phys save?) or better luck on the power vs save roll to see duration reductions.never says 'so and so save reduced the duration' so I'm guessing that saves don't affect its duration?

Re: Defending against Spyrdic Poison
What class do you play? Does it have any debuff management abilities? You can try to dodge the poison from distance. Or take it and wait it out where you are safe. Alternatively remove the debuff:
Race: Shalore, Orc
Prodigies: Draconic Will, Spine of the World (requires activation), Worldly Knowledge for Celestial/Light
Inscriptions: Healing, Wild, Primal, Heat beam, Steamtech injectors
Equipment: Penitence in second weapon set, Totem ego which cures poisons and diseases, Wrap of Stone, scout and prepare Rod of Recall
Escort category: Celestial/Light from rescued Anorithil
Sandworm Queen's Heart: corrupt it and learn Vile Life - the least viable option

Re: Defending against Spyrdic Poison
I think those poison oozes use an AOE skill like the Oozemancer class
But yeah it is a pain to deal with. Should have multiple sources of negative status removal to deal with it.

Re: Defending against Spyrdic Poison
Healing infusion removes a poison or disease, and is instant and on a short cooldown.
Re: Defending against Spyrdic Poison
Thanks for your thoughts. Most of those though are Counters/Healing rather than Defending (They don't block it happening or weaken it, just let you heal it right away).
I actually did have more than 20 save vs power then the slime that spydric poisoned me when I wrote this, in all categories, it is one of the reasons I was like 'huh, not even reduced?' It was just a normal mook rather than a boss or something with particularly high power after all.
I'm really curious: Aside from Poison Immunity and Dodging, has anyone tested/seen spydric get blocked by pure saves or other resistances?
Sucks that as a pinning effect, it bypasses pinning immunity.
Sorry I was super unclear and thinking Defenses rather than "I can just heal this" (as there are lots of options).

Re: Defending against Spyrdic Poison
Does spyrdic poison even check poison immunity? *let a slime hit him 3 times with 70 percent immunity to poison and 100 to pinning and a 30 point power difference: all three pinned him* Could be bad odds but starting to wonder.

Re: Defending against Spyrdic Poison
It is supposed to be a very powerful poison, so I wouldn't be surprised if it does bypass.
My feedback meter decays into coding. Give me feedback and I make mods.
Re: Defending against Spyrdic Poison
well, epidemic does bypass, and even lowers afterwards. makes sense for there to be a poison like that too, considering how similar poisons and diseases are.

Epidemic fails a lot, even though it says it bypasses disease immunity. Would be interested to know what the discrepancy isRadon26 wrote:well, epidemic does bypass, and even lowers afterwards. makes sense for there to be a poison like that too, considering how similar poisons and diseases are.

Re: Defending against Spyrdic Poison
maybe the save is so high it negates its duration?

Saves are usually the reason.Coldbringer wrote:Epidemic fails a lot, even though it says it bypasses disease immunity. Would be interested to know what the discrepancy is
Re: Defending against Spyrdic Poison
I looked at the code. Spydric poison claims (via comments) to bypass saves, but I can't see how it is different from other poisons, so that may be outdated.
