#1 Post by spacescrew »

Although it was a bit  overpowered, It was coolest concept introduced by expansion.
and it was whitehoove's reason for exist!

Please just nerf talent but don't change its concept.

The concept is still there, now it actually makes sense, it was stupid before

no, stacking attack speed to maximize damage is all other class is doing.
stacking movement speed and move alongside with enemy is unique.
and this makes sawbutcher hates narrow corridor what every other class loves.
yes. it was stupid. but it was great fun and gave us totally new playstyle.

Because it'll either be so nerfed that it'll be horrible or so strong that it'll need to be nerfed. Was it changed to only proc once per global turn? Because that's what it deserved.
A little bit of a starters guide written by yours truly here.

Beyond the Flesh also used to trigger on step and was rightly nerfed.

Friendly reminder that movement infusions exist and are widely available.

This plus the removing damage dealt by sawwheels are terrible, awful changes.

Everyone tried this playstyle first because it's new, fun, and really the first thing we all noticed when we first started plopping talent points. Sawwheels and tempest of metal have to be reverted. They really do. They made the class.

There's other ways to bring the overpowered scaling in line. Don't kill the theme, kill how it scales.

Locking movement speed to a fixed value appropriate to sawwheels talent level would have solved everything, as far as I can tell.

Brokenly overpowered game mechanics are not a theme.

I will say that when I'm halfway through a run and my entire build gets gutted I lose all interest in playing. I was halfway through a sawbutcher run totally designed around movement speed and procs and now the entire build is wrecked. I agree it's overpowered but I can't help but think this was a kneejerk nerf rather than the best most non-invasive change that could fix the problem.

You can still end your playthrough, the new characters are the ones that get the changes right?

Nah, all talent changes do apply immediately. I would recommend you downgrade?..

What do you mean by 'downgrade'?

I preferred your "I don't like it in any measure" style response in the other thread. That one could be chalked up to personal taste, or some kind of design philosophy. This one just flat out ignores my suggestion of capping player movement speed during sawwheels at something that was useful as a situational offensive measure, and not one's primary means of offense, especially against single targets.

I assume this is because you don't believe such a sweet spot can be found?

Do you want to attack twice every time you move? Knockback does nothing if there are walls behind a monster.
If you dig like this Saw Wheels becomes much stronger than Momentum.

I was only addressing your claim that it was a theme of the class.
I'm not ignoring your suggestion, I'm just not responding to it. Its not like I can do anything about your suggestion anyway...
Feel free to keep jumping to conclusions while telling other people to stop knee jerking. :P
