game lag fails to recognize alt/control/shift frequently

#1 Post by rangerjeff »

I've been annoyed for a while that without any indication of how long I need to wait if I don't wait long enough to shift/control/alt + hotkey only the hotkey will fire, without the modifier. Annoyed, and now I just died because of it. WTF? How can the game miss that I'm holding the control key while hitting 0, and think I'm just hitting 0? Anybody else with this issue? Any solution, or plans to address this?

I mean, this is a roguelike, where you can't just reload when the game f*cks up, so it should be crucial that the game doesn't kill you accidentally, right?

Woah, that first sentence is a killer...

Anyway, as nobody else has this issue, we definitely need to know what your system is and any addons used.

Well, I've got a real dog of a laptop, I'll admit. If nobody else has this issue I'll just try to play more patiently.

Thought about upgrading last black Friday for around $500 (this one is a $250 HP special...) But when I looked into modern specs and what you could get for just a little more, and a little more, I decided I need to save about $1400 for a I7-6700 with DDR4, SD drive, and 970m graphics, lol!

But if others have experienced the same... Seems like some improper flushing or something. Whenever I'm moving on the world map and the game is still "saving..." and then I try to enter a new location it thinks I'm hitting "." instead of ">" for example.

I think you can disable the ability to still move while it is saving.

I had this on my told laptop too. It ran the game really slow, so that probably why. My solution was to put the talents I use really frequently on the easy hotkeys (1 though =, I believe) and use the mouse for everything else. I dunno how to help you if you don't want to use a mouse.

This happens to me all the time when the game is in the process of saving after entering a zone. Modifier keys are simply ignored until the save is completely finished. I actually build my hotkey setups to prevent mishaps from this bug.

Someone push this into the bugs forum.

Bug forum would be good, I didn't know if it was a bug or just my sucky laptop.

This happens not just when saving for me, but whenever the game is still trying to figure out the consequences of my last action. So if I'm in the thick, I just wait patiently until everything stops moving for a second and this solves the issue.

You haven't got the flush log option enabled? That would slow it down a bit.

I don't see that option, but I have now disabled the option that lets me move while the game is saving, which helps.
