I've finally collected enough gold that I can buy some new gear, but I'm a little overwhelmed by how many different stats (and sub-stats) are changed by each item. This is the "Dumb Questions" forum, so...help me get a better grasp on how to choose wisely?
I'm playing a Halfling Rogue, been firing off arrows from a long bow and playing "keep away" pretty successfully so far, but I've also got some good melee talents as well with daggers.

Re: Buying new gear
boots with negative fatigue and bonus encumbrance will keep your stamina for longer and let you keep more trinkets in your inventory.
you never know what might be useful.
if you are planning on taking on the tempest or grand corrupter, or any mage ever, gloves/gauntlets or "disperse magic" are a must.
rings of misery have some useful stats, as well as a rather strong active.
belts of undeath, head wear of the fish, and (not entirely sure if those are still in the game. been a while since i found one) lanterns of corpse light, can be invaluable in the exploration of the underwater lvls, as they let you not suffocate under water.

Re: Buying new gear
There are triple immunity boots for sale sometimes, and they can have another bonus like faster run speed.
Cloaks and amulets that have a teleport ability
Body armor that has "Second wind" ability to recover your stamina.
Belts and gloves with crit chance or max life
Weapons that torment or curse the target are really nice for the tougher monsters that take a lot of hits to kill
Also, look for torques that reduce the damage you take from physical and elemental damage, those are real lifesavers. Activate it before a boss fight or before you open a golden chest.

"You could skip it, i think it drops 0 xp and 1 copper [at most], you are better off selling oxygen to beggars to become rich."
Re: Buying new gear
Work out what stats are actually useful to you and also look at what your weaknesses are.
