Am I doing something wrong with my brawler?

Hey, right now I've managed to get a brawler into the east, but I've just lost my reassemble in the vor armory, as mages are giving me a load of trouble (there were way too many, and even when I teleported there were still some around)

I'm not sure if it was me not fleeing in time, or just doing something wrong.

It might be that my resistances are really low, I haven't found many good items yet that boost resistance (I couldn't give up my +size belt for resistances though, since I need it to grapple)

You're spreading your points too thin. Rush and Spinning Backhand are your main anti-mage moves. But you only put 1 point into Rush and 4 into Spinning Backhand, and nothing into Strider.

Oh, wait. You're trying to win as a grappler. I never could get that to work. But I haven't tried since grappling was re-done either.
