Any number of useful strategies in the game could be seen as "exploits" by someone with a certain mindset. That really isn't a helpful way to look at things. The game is what's in the code, not what's in your mind. Unless you want to actively make the game harder for yourself, play the game as it is instead of creating arbitrary restrictions on which game mechanics are "allowed" or not.
I agree with cctobias in that the stat restrictions cause more problems than they solve and should be generally relaxed or removed to avoid situations like the one you're describing. The ability to hold a item or gain a talent shouldn't be gated by having X stat, but your effectiveness with the item or talent could very well be governed by the stat.
Does this work as intended?

Of course! But if the code is broken what's the point of playing? I'm not speaking in general here. It only concerns certain talents that can be used without satisfying the requirements, like chants. I shouldn't be able to use chants if i don't have enough mag to use but i can by temporarly equipping +mag items, investing points into it, then remove the +mag equipment and i can still use the talent. Seems like cheating to me.Effigy wrote:The game is what's in the code, not what's in your mind
I agree too. As far as prodigies are concerned it's ok but certain talents no, most notably chants that scale with talent level. In this case i can get any char to take chant of fortitude or chant of fortress which are very usefull talents in comparison to the generics that the char starts with!Effigy wrote:I agree with cctobias in that the stat restrictions cause more problems than they solve and should be generally relaxed or removed to avoid situations like the one you're describing. Yes, there are things that could be considered exploits, but let's call them quirks for now.
They are what add flavor to the game, not only overpowering players but also allowing wierd and fun ideas.
Playing around with them is fun and it doesn't hurt anyone. It keeps us interested in the game. I see it doing no hän, only benefitting everyone.
I disagree with cctobias on the stats though. Item stat requirements can be considered a joke in this game but I wouldn't want them removed. I would actually like to see heavier stat requirements on items. For end game artifact like Blighted Maul for example, 80 STR and 20 MAG.
Tarrasca, massive armor, 80 STR, 35 CON, etc.
This would create need for stat boosting items in a different way than now and also some demand for lower tier weapons and stuff just cause you can't equip everything you want right away.

Stronk is a potent combatant with a terrifying appearance.

Ok ok. But in nightmare i guess they can be considered acceptable. Sorry for the rant, but it is tempting to take chant of fortitude on a wyrmic xD
